It's a pretty exciting time up here in Minnesota. The Gopher women's basketball team is in the Final Four for the first time ever.

It's so much fun to watch these kids play their hearts out each and every game.

If you've got children, especially girls, Sunday night's game against UCONN would be TV time well spent.

GO GOPHERS!

Kevin-

Congrats to the Lady Gophers and good luck.

I caught the whole game against Duke. Duke had an extremely bad shooting night and seemed really tight, but that's certainly not meant to take anything away from Minn. The Gophers appeared to have the passion and desire to really want to win and coaching seems to be superb.

Again good luck!

Kevin.

My heart is with the lady tigers in the other game. And, I see down here where they compare Whalen with Pistol Pete. My two granddaughters (7 & 9) are coming down here from NY and they're UConn fans. UConn & TN are the favorites. It would be OK with me if the gophers & lady tigers made it to the final on Tuesday.

However, if I was betting, I would put my money on UConn.

Go underdogs...

Tom,
If history plays any significance, it isn't very likely that both the men's and women's UConn teams will win. In fact they are the fifth school to have both its men's and women's teams in the Final Four in the same year.

Georgia did it in 1983
Duke in 1999
Oklahoma in 2001
Texas last year

Get this stat: No team has won a national title when it has sent both teams to the Final Four!!

Terry----Your probably right!! But remember there is always a first time for everything!!Minnesota has a couple of good players! In one game anyone can get hot, fired up and win!

Terry.

LSU has won three national championships in last 90 days and if the women were to win (long shot) that would be four (4) national championships...

1) LSU 2003 Football (Sugarbowl Jan 04 vs OK)
2) LSU 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field
3) LSU 2004 Men's Indoor Track & Field
4) LSU 2004 Women's Basketball???? long shot

As Laddie notes, the Tigers are on a roll with these championships. I would not be against them or UConn. My favorite is the Lady Vols, not sure this is their year. Tigers Gophers would be a nice matchup and some really excited fans.

Gordon.

The High School Women's East/West All Star game is today in New Orleans.

Of the top 20 HS Women players, 5 or committed to going to TN.... They were practicing here in Mandeville yesterday. The 5 signees to TN include Candace Parker who won the HS Slam Dunk contest the other day beating five boys...

I agree that UCONN is the better team, but realize the Minnesota program was just about at the bottom of the barrel a few short years ago.

This is a cinderella story and many of us here would like the ball to continue.

I'll be glued to the TV tomorrow night.

Kevin

P.S. Laddie: If it comes down to the Gophers and LSU, we'll have to talk.........

The gophers & tigers gave it a good try...

I'm going stick with my granddaughters now & pull for UConn.
Both TN & UConn are good...

Well Terry was wrong! I have watched both teams and i felt it was going to happen!!! Its sort of like the Yankees, they don't always turn it up a notch until it really matters!!It might not happen again, certainly in my lifetime!!Don't take the UConn Football program lightly either! They were 9-3 last year and no-one noticed!!They have a excellant recruiting class coming in! They were 8th best offensive team last year in Div 1! Its only a matter of time!
