I received a phone call today from the BMV. I applied for a personalized plate for the Candy. (You can only apply and renew by mail to get a collector's plate in Ohio.) The woman explained she could issue my first choice but it would expire on my birthday (in 5 weeks). I would have to pay for the entire year but it would expire in 5 weeks. I didn't know whether to be extremely happy she called and warned me or be upset that the system is that screwed up. I received the renewal sticker for the 99 last week, that expires on my birthday NEXT year, one year and 5 weeks away. At least they did not take my $ 95 and then tell me. Bizarre. She is going to hold the application for awhile and then process it.

Ed - tell us what the new plate will feature. Or are you transferring the old plate to the new cat?

In Indiana, you must apply for personalized plates by Oct 31.....they are delivered after the first of the year.....regardless of what your last name is, they all expire in April every year.....just got my last one today.....in the past Indiana always issued a new plate, now they are using stickers for the personalized plates too.....unless they are really fast, doubt they(Ohio) could even get your plate approved and delivered in 5 weeks.....I am only plating 1 Viper and 2 Vettes this year.....doubt I will ever plate the other Vipers or the Prowlers again due to their very limited road use....

It only takes about 3 weeks, I think, to get the new one. I don't recall specifically but it wasn't real long. They sent a paper mock up to use until it arrived. I renewed the old one a few days before I sent in the paperwork for this one. A/C, I am not disclosing the new plate until it arrives. Lethia taught me that trick. lol. I put the front plate from the other car on the back on the new one for the time being.

"Lethia taught me that trick." Yes, she was coy wasn't she, lol. OK, I can wait to see it later. I know you picked out another good one.

You should consider shooting him even if he doesn't tell.

Ed - that wasn't very nice! Judy knows I break lots of finger nails changing all those plates and tabs at the Museum.Judy - The Krehel secrets are safe with me,,,,but I worry about Kozican. He keeps mentioning that he sees one Texas plate move around from the GTO, to the Vipers, and then to the Jag. We may have to snuff him out, lol.

It's nice you got your plate but sucks about the sticker. I'm surprised they don't pro-rate the sticker to your birthday only and then renew for one year.Ah...well!

That was definitely a good guess. Some guy named Stock already has it. I have a contract out on him, however, so maybe next year. lol.

Ed, I got my new Kat and personalized Ohio plate in December, seven months before my birthday/renewal. They prorated the fees. Also, with the new Ohio printing system for the plates, I got the real metal one in about seven days.

Kevin, I got collector's plates (personalized, also) and that is the hang up. With collector's plates we can avoid the E-check and twelve idiots getting into and onto the car. Then they could not get their computer to work. I spent over an hour there the first time with the cat. They finally gave me an exemption but then I had to go back the following year, so I switched to Collector's plates.
