to go along with the other post about gasoline prices....

the winner...
...C5 Vettes....I have had 4 of these in the last few years(2000, 2001, 2003, 2004).....they all average over 30 MPG on the road, and high teens around town....I had a 2000 model that recorded 33.1 on a long interstate trip....when I want to economize, I drive the Vette....

...2nd best mileage I have ever had from any car was a 91 Dodge Spirit....averaged 27.2 on the road.....drove it 200K miles.....never varied

...comparisons...all highway mileage...
... had a 76 Pinto that never got above 24 MPG...
...Prowlers, only checked once, 22 MPG
...Jeep Grand Cherokee V8, 19 MPG
...most musclecars, 10-12 MPG
...426 HEMI Challenger, 4.5 MPG

My wife (now ex) had a 1980 Diesel Volkswagon Rabbit - 56 MPG on the road - 52.5 with 4 adults from Louisville to New Smyrna Beach and back. After that trip, I never road in that car again unless I had to!

'73 Cadillac Coupe Deville - 500 CI engine - 8 MPG commuting - but I was looking GOOOOOD :D

2 PTs and 2 Prowlers. None get good mileage. Goldwing gets 38 or 39, needs new plugs probably. Also needs some sunshine.

I drive a Hummer daily with mods it requires Super Unleaded and I get around 10 MPG in it. 32 Gallon tank. My 23' T-Bucket 10 gallon tank I get about 8-9 MPG but I use 108-112 octane at already 4.00 a gallon. The Prowler gets around 20 MPG. My 68 Camaro is around 12 MPG but was only driven 100 miles last year. My wifes Mercedes gets around 25 MPG.

Our 04 Hemi Durango 16 City, 22 Highway
99 Prowler 23 Highway, I have never measured city
05 PT Turbo Convert we have not measured it all yet.

When driving the PT and Prowler around town I have a heavy foot. Not so much on the Durango. Even with gas prices I have not yet changed my driving habits much.

My commuter car used to be my wife's ride. It's a 1990 Toyota Corolla. I will be giving it a full tune-up this Spring. It just turned 209,000 miles and it gets a minimum of 30 mpg highway as long as you keep it under 75 on the highway.
I admire this little car cuz it lets my Cat sleep all Winter.
Have a good day everyone!

I liked the note in AUTOWEEK a couple of years ago (while they were testing an Excursion). They noticed an Excursion owner pumping gas wearing a Tee shirt that simply stated...6 million years of dinosaurs laid down their lives so that I could get 8 miles to the gallon.

Life.........is good !

Bob, I don't drive that. I have it stored to leave to my kids as their inheritance. It will be worth a fortune by the time I die next month. lol
