A lot of race action this weekend and some tight races within the races. Jimmy and I didn't run as well as we hoped but Jimmy ran the 30 min practice session & the 20 min Feature race and I ran the 15 min Qualifying race. Jimmy finished 2nd in the feature race and we have clinched the Vintage V8 championship points.

Congrats to Mike Poupart who took 1st Place in the Super Production Feature race running the #44 Viper owned by Alan McDonnel. Johnny Walter has wrapped up the championship points for the season and cracked a header during the Qualifying and was only able to make four laps of the Feature race. Congrats to Johnny on points championship...

Friday was Ferrari Day ...
- 100 Ferraris
- F1 set new track record 1:10:15 (good for a day)
- State Police support - 6 crusier, 6 Mcs, one helicopter
- $895 per person entry fee
- 195 mph down straight away before braking for turn #1
- Ferrari hits wall & driver not owner of car...

On Saturday, we ran our Grand Bayou Road Race #5

In our Vintage V8 class I qualified us in 3rd place. So, Jimmy started 3rd behind Bryan & Winston. For the 1st three laps, the order stayed the same until a GTO car spun out in turn #8 in front of Bryan and he had to checkup and that allowed Winston to pass Bryan and them Bryan & Jimmy started chasing Winston. On lap # 8 Jimmy was pushing hard and trying to pressure them and went into turn #1 too hot and ended up going through the grass and loss some time to them. Once back on the track he was not able to make up that time. For the next six or seven laps Winston & Bryan were running within a car length of each other most of the time. With two laps to go Bryan spun out in turn #11 and blew a tire. Winston went on to take 1st place in Vintage V8 and we took 2nd.

Now, Mike Poupart was being chased by Mike Shelter in a Nascar #24 replica during the feature race. Mike was holding that lead and it varied from one to five or so car lengths for about half the laps. Mike made a move to pass Jimmy in turn #10 about half way through the race and Jimmy jumped back in behind Mike and held off Shelter through turn #14 before Shelter passed him along the straight-away. That gave Mike P. a good 6 second cushion and Mike stretched it out to win by 14 seconds.

In addition to our normal nine classes and four races, the Formula Miata group from Texas brought around 15 cars to run their last race of the season at No Problem. They ran in a separate class on Saturday and had their own 90 min Enduro on Sunday morning and the GBRS Enduro Sunday afternoon. One of these cars set a new track record of 1:09:63 on Saturday breaking the record set on Friday by a F1 Ferrari. I wasn't out on Sunday so can't report on what may have happened.

I posted more pics over on the confederation web site and included some from the Ferrari Day...

I did go out on Friday with my Dad for the Ferrari race day. There were around 100 Ferraris out at No Problem for the event running hot laps on the 1.8 mile road course. During the exhibition run, one of the F1 cars set a new track record with a run of 1:10:15 seconds for the 1.8 mile road course. A friend of mine got to ride with Franco in one of the cars and he said they hit 195 mph down the straight-away before braking for turn #1...

Tese guys even had their own fuel truck... Shell was a sponsor and all they did was drive around and say fillerup...

some of the cars lining up for hot laps...

Ferrari F1s ...

$7 million Ferrari - this car won 1962 Lemans. The owner paid $6.4 million at Barrett Jackson auction and drives this thing around New Orleans...
