I was talking to a colleague over in Southern Africa yesterday and he said the local Mitsubishi dealer told him D-C bought-out Mitsubishi and was only going to keep the 4X4 trucks. Mitsubishi cars were going to be phased out. Has anyone heard about this? Or is this old news? Or is this just a rumor? Thanks.

That is a rumor.........DCX refused to fund the recovery plan of Mitsubishi. Subsequent investments by Japanese banks and competitors deluted DCX's ownership position in Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi will supply Chrysler Group with the next generation of small and mid-size cars. Chrysler Group will supply Mitsubishi America with a mid-size pick-up. Mitsubishi may streamline some of its current product mix. What Mitsubishi exports to South Africa or any other country would be based upon the product success locally.
