OMG>>>at first I was thinking about Jeff, who posts here for Hendrick's Mopar parts DC dealership,,,but it was a Jeff Turner, not Jeff Hunter aboard the plane.

Sad news.

Not to dispute what's stated, but usually when something like this happens, they show an aerial view of the crash at least. The article said they can't access the site til Monday, yet they have confirmed all 10 dead.
There was another recent plane crash where miraculously, someone survived, with minor scratches. If they haven't accessed the site, how do they know everyone is dead? I think there's more they aren't saying, and what is said isn't all true. JMO.
Its a sad happening at any rate...

If you fly straight into a mountainside, chances of survival are somewhat slim. Maybe they flew over and did not see any movement. I have no clue, just thinking out loud. Maybe the plane basically disintegrated.

Very tragic.

This is big news here. Rick Hendrick owns many car dealerships in the area. The accident happened only about 50 miles away.

I didn't go to the race yesterday (we went to the Panther/Charger game), but the morning in this area had light rain with very heavy fog until about 2:00 pm. I understand that the fog was even heavier in the mountains near the track. The mountain they crashed into is at an elevation of 3,200 feet. In clear skies it is a visible landmark.

Rusty Wallace said last night in an interview, that this airport has a difficult "approach" even in good weather.

I heard on the Today show this morning that they actually reached the crash site yesterday afternoon, but they did not inform any of the racers until after the race was finished. What a tragic loss of life.
