Tangled up in Blue; Here's a picture of my 1938 Ply truck, paid 150.00 for it. Pulled the plugs, poured oil in the carb while cranking with a new battery cut fuel line and ran it into a gas can. Reinstalled old plugs and fired right up after priming carb. Put new tires on it and drove it around couple of weeks. Had a guy from OLD TRUCKS INC. want to buy it for the front clip for 500.00. Would'nt sell it to be parted out, latter he came back with a offer of 1,500. He still has the truck and drives it fixed up with his business name on it. Made a friend for life .

Lost my license at 21 with this 1970 Grand Coupe. 383 with 250h.p.nitrous unit, auto, air, 430 gears. D.A. said if I sold the car before my court date they would go easy on me. I did ,sold it to my wife for 1 dollar. He and the judge didn't think that was funny, they pulled the D.M.V records same address and last name OOPS. High insurance for 5 years. Sold car to buy house, kept the Superbird.

Didn't own a car directly until I got out of the service, grew up the oldest of (9) our family was poor.So I didn't get to enjoy being spoiled like some, with high performance cars in High School,I had to earn every thing I ever owned. So the first car I directlt owned was a Vw fast back don't remember the year. Any way below is the second best that I currently own next to the Prowler a 1933 FORD Pickup almost stock, has a flathead v8, head lights aren't orig need to get them some day. The wife got this for me Christmas of 97. What Happen to the pictures?

I certainly have never owned the cool muscle cars, street rods or exotics that many of you have. Just basic transportation for many years. 25 cars over 34 years of driving, but most were company cars I just got out of our small fleet for a few months. Many years I didn't, and still do not have my personal driver titled in my name. My wife drove the 300E for 10 years; she just liked it. I have driven my current daily driver (Tahoe) for 7 years. Everyone is after me to get a new one, but I kinda like driving a semi beater. I can throw kids/supplies/sports equipment in and not worry about messing it up. 1964 Volkswagen Beetle (Tight fit for 6'4" kid) 1969 Chevelle (No SS. Bench seats, etc.) 1974 Toyota Corolla 1974 Buick Skylark 1978 Olds Cutlass 1976 Toyota (wife) 1979 Olds Cutlass 1976 Ford pickup 1981 Audi (wife) 1978 Olds Ninety-Eight 1978 Pontiac Bonneville 1981 Chevy Caprice 1983 Volvo (wife) 1985 Buick Park Ave. 1985 Volvo (wife) 1989 Mercedes 300E (wife) 1989 Buick Park Ave. 1989 Ford Taurus 1988 Cadilac Sedan de Ville 1985 Ford pickup 1990 Ford Crown Vic 1992 Buick Park Ave. 1997 Chevy Tahoe 1999 Mercedes 320ML (wife) 2002 Prowler ------------------

Tangled; Check out this little Porsche 1974 914 1.8 5spd. Daily driver for 5 years, taught my niece Mandy how to drive a standard with it. Let her borrow it one day to show off at school, and she did. Pulled into the parking lot to fast at lunch, slid on the ice in a shady spot and hit the parking block. Wrecked the front bumper and ripped the front spoiler off. She had to do yard work all summer to pay for the damage, had the best yard on the block .

Tangled; Check out this set, stop me anytime. Looking at these old pic, everyone of them has a story. Purchased the 79 from the wife of one of Denver's first used brick companies. He had passed away and the truck had been sitting for 9 years. She wouldn't sell it ever, called me back 2 days later. Here kids were fighting over it, 1 truck 3 groan kids. 1,500 cash, she gave each one 500. 2,500 body, paint and int. 3mo. later brought it by to show her she had passed away. Picked up the 78 red and 14 other cars on unpaid storage. Luck,Timing,Cash, don't leave home with out it.

Tangled; This story makes me sick. Bought, sold, traded cars for many years to get another car of my dreams. Well got it. 46,000 spent 2mos. of fun. While on vacation about 5 years ago out at closed Stapleton Airport running time trials early on a monday morning. New the guy who had the keys to the fenced rally lot, took a chunk out of the rim flattened the tire sent the car into crazy spin and hit concrete barrier. Wrecked the car bad turned it in to a 23,000 dollar salvage, and all my friend kept saying is you got to got this car out of here or I'll be in big trouble.

OneCat..... .....the one thing I never tire of is "car stories".......you reminded me of one of my more interesting purchases..........starting in the early 1980's I switched from Corvettes to MOPARS......one of my better stories.....I get a call from a well known "car tracker" one night....he had found a Superbird in North Baltimore, Ohio....a 10K original mile, one owner car.....this was around 1990 or so.....I told him I would go check the car out the next day.....I arrived at a small Chrysler dealership Saturday morning to find this Superbird in the service bay of the dealership...they had a one car showroom and a 3 car service bay !!!.....the owner of the car decided to take the car back where he bought it new for them to dispose of it ....he had several grandsons who were causing somewhat of a turmoil for him, they all wanted the car, especially realizing what it was worth even then.....this Bird had 10K miles on it, still had the cardboard floormats in the floor the dealer had put in the car when it was sold new.....the owners manual was still in the glovebox and brand new along with more original paperwork than any MOPAR I ever owned.....the car still had the IBM punch card in the rear floor....it had every tag and sticker the car was shipped with under the hood still intact.....the car had a few small paint scrapes on the nose from the owners wife parking by feel in the rickety old garage.....the Bird also had whitewash stripes down both sides from the garage doors chattering against the car while she pulled in and out.....the really funny part....the owner was 93 years old and his wife was 86......he had bought the new Superbird for her when she was in her late 60's because the seats felt comfortable to her back.....so for many years Mrs. Brown drove the Superbird daily, but soon it retired to the garage and was used to store her gardening tools and supplies on.....the wing was used as a shelf too.....I had the car trailered to a friends house where he proceeded to unstick the brakes, gave it a tune up and it drove like it was 1970....I only had the car a short time and put over 3K miles on it....99.9% original..... the day the Bird was picked up, Mr. Brown(93 years old )showed up to see the car leave for it's new Indiana home.....I have pictures of him standing beside the car and sitting inside it.....he cried a little as the car left the dealers lot....later I sent him some pictures of the car at it's new home and copies of him sitting in the car....I heard from the dealer he was thrilled with the pictures because he had never taken any during the 20 years he owned it..... I drove the car to the MOPAR Nationals that summer and several people recognized "Mrs. Browns Superbird"....I still have great memories blasting down the interstate after 3 days at the Nationals, passing thru rush hour traffic like they were stopped....it ran perfect, night air, that great MOPAR exhaust and the big 440 was singin' it's tune for everyone to hear..... ....the market was red hot then and after several months I sold the car to a guy in Tullahoma, Tn......he did a rotissery restoration on the car and went after trophys....last year while on vacation I saw an ad for the Bird again and I called Mike immediately to repurchase the car, but he had sold it the day before to someone out west, I forget which state for sure, but I think it was Iowa.....another one that got away..... this picture was taken a few days after I got it cleaned up and on the road......

Hay Blue, great car and story. Pic. brought back memories, once owned a bird half the car you pictured man what a hot car you had. Got mine in 1984, gave 6,500 used my credit union to buy it against my wife Susan wishes. All ready had the Challenger R/T that I showed you and the Grand Coupe. Susan was driving 1978 Dodge 4/4 you see in the picture p.o.s. and I show up at home with this ugly duckling 6,500 in payments 167.00 mo. She was hoping for a new car since I already had 2 and was driving new company service van. It hit the fan bad I got it with both barrels and stood there and took it. my marriage was in jeopardy. Was ridiculed by all of her family and her friends, it didn't matter because I still had the car. My birthday was in 2 weeks and every one was coming over, I had been given the name Bird Brain by all, very hard to bare but still had the car. The truck broke down one morning in the driveway, dead battery. Susan calls giving me crap about no ride to work so I told her to drive the bird but it needs gas. The Challenger and Cuda were to nice to drive on a light snowy day. She pulled in to the gas station started to fill the car when approached by a man wanting to by the car. He offered her 10,000 for it she took his number and went to work. While at work she had 2 more people track her down and try to buy the car took both numbers. When I got home checked out the truck and she had left the dome light on the night before, I replaced the battery anywhere just to keep her happy. While having dinner she asked me what I paid for the bird, I told her and I said that I had 2 more payments left and then was going to take out another loan to restore it. Susan said that if I take out another loan that it better be for a car for her and that she wasn't going to drive that stupid looking car again. She felt like a freak in it, every time she stopped people would stair or ask her what is it and if it was for sale. Then she told me that she was pregnant and that she needed something nice to carry our son in, something safe and better on gas. What are you going to do, she had the trump card and it was my son, I agreed and was very happy about the great news, to be a dad for the first time what a feeling. After sticker shock you could'nt buy anything worth a dam for under 10'000. the only way was to sell the Bird. Called the people that gave her there number and the all tried to get it cheep, when they new my story they thought I was going to give it away. The market was just starting to get hot on these cars. My wife said I should be happy with a 3,500 profit. I told her I would decided on Friday then ran an add in the paper and bumped the price to 13,000. I got over 80 calls the first day and it was a mad house. The first time I have ever posted a car and people were fighting over it willing to pay higher than the next guy or the price in the paper. Then my friend called and said he found a 70 Hemi Cuda in a barn in Chudwater WY. he thought he could get it for 8,500 but didn't have any money. Stressed out and no sleep sold the Bird to the highest bidder 19,500 on Friday, bought 90 turbo shadow on sat. cash 11,200, and a Hemi Cuda missing engine and trans on Sunday for 6,500 and gave my friend 3,000 finder fee. All is good and have a great son Johnny and you no what, lost the nick name Bird Brain. Sorry about the long story there is more to come later if you want, will post pic. of the barn car anyway
