Maybe I should have put this on a new thread

I just spoke with Kathy, Curtis's wife.
Curtis had his first Kemo treatment last week. He has been in bed since, with swollen limbs, and other complications from the therapy. Kathy has been home all this time from work since Curtis has been sick. I have been though a family member's illness like this, belive me, it is not a easy situation. Kathy has been on family leave from her employer, with a small portion of here normal salary coming in.

Curtis, who worked for a DC dealer in Stockton, was terminated after the using up his sick leave. He has no money coming in period, and has not for months now.

Needless to say, (or maybe not) the financial situation is gloomy at best.

I would ask again all to please keep Curtis in your thoughts. And not only Curtis, but his whole family who are going through this.

I really don't know how to say this tactfully, so I will just say it. The family is under financial difficulty to say the least. They have not asked for help, but I have learned some of the situation, and I hear it their voice. I read other threads on here and I shake my head. What in life is more important than life itself? Curtis's family needs our help. They would not come and say so, but they are in NEED.

I am not a organizer, nor do I want to be one. But I do have the Blockus home address if anyone was to email me for it, not on here please.

And this is no bandstand either. anyone who know's or have met Curtis and Kathy know what kind of people they are, how they have helped, and enjoyed the POA members in the past. And yes, Curtis and Kathy are friends of mine. So is the other thread subject person, who I have helped in the past, and would in the future. But I have to tell you, ,,, no, never mind. I think it best left unsaid.

At the least please keep this family in your thoughts.

Thanks, JD

There was a post on another topic that asked to explain my dad's situation. Here it is, as it stands right now, today.

My dad was diagnosed with Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage IV-B.
Cancer has four stages, I being the least and IV being the worst. The second part of his diagnosis "B" is in reference to all his other symptoms: fever, sweating, shaking, etc.
The prognoses is this:
He is on a 21 day cycle of chemo, meaning that every 21 days he drives to Stanford, gets hooked up to an IV for 6-8 hours and receives chemotherapy via an iv.
Out of the people who have this type of cancer, 50% respond to the chemo treatments, of those 50%, 30-40% are cured of the cancer but those are people with no other outlying problems medically and are usually a young age.
We will not know until after the 2nd cycle of treatment if his body is responding to the chemo. they will be able to determine this by doing a PET-CT scan (or full body scan).
If the tumors are not growing or there are not more tumors then his body is responding and they will continue, if there are more tumors or the existing ones are larger then they have to find another treatment method that may or may not involve bone marrow transplants.

Rich,
I'm 100% with you - in my opinion there's NO greater reward in life than helping someone in need and IMO Curtis needs our help - was talking to my wife, explained to her the situation and we decided we're gonna donate and auction off a somewhat unique item we're hoping its proceeds will at least help paying for some groceries or gas etc.

Amanda,
I will be praying for you in this difficult time. I lost my Father to this exact same type of cancer, he went through the bone marrow transplants as well. It was not fun. I'm sure they have made a lot of advancements since 1992-1993. Please keep us updated on his condition.

Best Regards,
Ron

Amanda, thanks for the update on your Dad. Please give him a hug for me and tell him "Chin up- you'll have your boots back on in no time"! He will know what I mean....
Regards Buddy.

Amanda can check with his Dr. first, but maybe a few in the area can stop by once in a while and take curtis for a little cruise. Since he's too weak to drive himself at the moment it might help keep his spirits up. Maybe Amanda can drive him in his car.

Hi Everyone.

I wanted to let you know that my dad is on his way back once again to Stanford. He hasnt been able to eat for 2 days and he is also fighting his diabeties which is getting worse from the meds for the chemo.
I'm not posting this in an effort to request money. Please understatnd it was never my intention to ask for handouts for my family. I realize that cancer (or any other condition) is certinally not exclusive to my family and I know there are millions of others in a similar situation or maybe even worse off.
I just wanted to keep you updated on where he is. to be honest we are all pretty scared and money is kind of the last thing on our minds. on the 12th he has his 2nd round of chemo, after that we will be able to find out if it is working. as for myself, i try to continue to think good thoughts about the situation, it's difficult since i live i n southern california, i'm trying to send as much positive energy his way that i can.

Hi Amanda,
Your dad has been a great friend to me over the past year.
I talked to him tonight and he is a bit better but just because of the blood transfer. I belive he and I were close
and it was all because of this Prowler thing. He said he
wanted so much to be at your wedding with the Prowler and
I will do all I can to make that dream come true.
Please all that can help... help Curtis keep his dream and
not have to sell the car. We all have hardships and problems. I am on disability myself... but I will give what
I can to Curtis. He has been the #1 inspiration and help to
the Prowler I know own.

Thanks,
Doug (Inca Gold of Tracy Ca)
