It just amazes me how long time friendships can be jeopardized over a simple post.....it's just not worth it!All the folks posting here are right and I respest everyone's point of view.
Just let me say that if I happen to be in a financial position to help a friend out....I'd do it in a second.
A fellow P.O.A.member posted a sincere offer to get a person he probably never met out of a bind....and got a sincere response from people willing to help!
Simultaniously another P.O.A.member is in need also...under different circumstances(which I truly empathize with)1
I have never met Curtis in person but have communicated numerous times throught he P.O.A. and would do exactly the same or better in a heart beat.
After all....money's only paper, people are worth a lot more than that!Everyone has choices to make, and if you choose not to help or are not in a position to do so,that's O.K.too!
Dan,I wish you all the best in resolving it sooner rather than later!
Curtis....our thoughts are with you all the time(there is a small package coming your way)...Amanda thanks for the address!

JD, call me crazy, but perhaps this attack on you is just a diversion to shift this discussion away from the original post which took to task a simple and honest request from one "member" of all the "members" to fund another member's self-inflicted "deficit" with the IRS that he chooses to have paid for by the other "member's" very generous donations rather than by himself so that he can keep all his "toys" without the sacrifice sometimes required in life when faced with "adult" choices.

I would suggest, JD, that you leave Gary out of this one and let this thread refocus on the "Predicament" at hand; the call for significant "member" contributions to "help out" another "member" who has outright said he has "does have other options" but rather would take "thier" money instead of using his own to bail out his debt to the IRS.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming

I get the feeling from some of these posts that if you (or anyone else) was flailing about in the water, instead of throwing you a life jacket, they'd stand on the side of the boat asking:

  • What are you doing in the water?

  • How'd you get there?

  • Why don't you know how to swim?

  • Are you sure you're drowning? Cause I don't want to get involved unless you're certain you're drowning and there's no other way for you to get yourself out of this.

  • Did you jump in? Cause if you jumped in I'm not helping you. It's your own damned fault you're drowning. There are a lot of other people I could help instead of some moron who got himself into a situation like this....

In the meantime you're suckin' up water like a wet-vac.

Later.

Is this doing anything except creating hard feelings and division amongst the Prowler community? Maybe I'm wrong but, I thought that Prowler-on-line was about the cars, the events and the people. The original Prowler site went down because of this type of controversy.

Politics, religion and one's ability to express themselves under our wonderful "freedom of speech" are great in their proper places. Heck it's what makes our world go round.

Can we move back to a more balanced focus on the cars, the events and the people of this virtual family? If one of us or a relative isn't well or in harms way, let their friends here know. I know that they will post a few words of encouragement and say a prayer in his or her own way.

Let's be positive and supportive. Please, can we keep the board a place to come and share without all of the huge issues which cause hard feelings and lost friendships?

Very well stated Bob.
I echo your sentiments exactly.

Politics and religion always cause problems.
I remember the days when this site was about Prowlers.
I sure miss those days!

And let's not forget "greed" as well, Larry. All very true statements.

Bob ... right on ...

Dan ... I am now so moved by your last post and had no idea you were "drowning" that I would ask Mr. Buck to put me down for one (1) adult size life vest to be contributed once the overall "goal" is met.

God Bless Us ... Every One!

Dan Pena VS Curtis Blockhus debates....

OK, I am the board psychologist/philosopher...and have been following this thread daily...without input...why? Because it wasn't so many years ago--on a motorcycle site--another member and myself had a disagreement, shall we say...and active supporters rallied to both sides...in somewhat equal numbers...but what was solved?

Basically nothing but a lot of name calling, hard feelings, and forever lost friendships! It was sad. It remains sad.

For all those who said to please keep these private [negative] feelings private, I say bravo. This wonderful board, so full of comraderies and positive influences and shared expertise cannot STAY THAT if such threads are allowed to continue--and absess beyond control. Why take sides? What is the purpose for the greater good?

Curtis has health problems and SHOULD BE supported by those who can AND wish to help! Dan has financial problems and SHOULD BE supported by those who can AND wish to help! Why has this thread gotten outta hand? Probably because it began publicly...IMHO. If a call to help had been started via offering an address in which to send support--without NAMES being posted publicly or who is offering how much $ to whom, I doubt the current rage would have arisen as it has. I see the whole thread as very sad indeed...but wish to list no person's name.

My wish is that the entire thread be eliminated and hostilities forgotten/friends forgiven--but NOT the purpose of the thread. Not the intent. Contributions can be sent anonymously--and is that any less recognition for the doner in the eyes of God and/or the worthy recipients? Look into your own hearts and decide what is truth!

I have refrained from answering and posts made by Gary C. in the past because I feel I don't know which one of him I will be talking to, in my opinion. He has lied to me and here on this post. I don't know how to better put it. I never took him for $15oo.oo or any other amount he might come up with. In fact, I discounted the labor that we had agreed upon by 500.oo to arrive at the filial price which he paid (1500.oo) in cash on the spot after he loaded his car on his trailer and was ready to drive off. I really felt sorry for him at the time for having all the problems with the Paxton kit as everyone else has also had( I told him of the problems others were having and had posted at that time too). Paxton was the problem. Their kit didn't fit and there header system would not allow the air box of the paxton to fit in the engine compartment. The only thing not finished on his veh. when he left me was the air cleaner was not installed and the coolant/water wetter was not put into the system and the negative term. of the battery was not quick connected down. This was agreed by him over the phone prior to his ever coming pick the car up. There was not enough time to correct the problems created be paxtons non existent Q/C at the time because he wanted to go to the Texas drags. I told him to take the car to Patton and have them warrantee there product problems. I had had the paxton kit in and out some 4 times at that point and gave him an extensive list of the problems with the instructions issued with the kit from paxton. I had also been down to Paxton and showed them a number of there errors and I told Gary C. these problems. I truly don't want to get into any of this. I will never have anything to do with him again but I can't just sit here and have him print outright lies about me. I hope he will have enough class to drop this whole name calling and finger pointing otherwise I will be forced to take legal action. I know I truly want to move on with my life and not become embroiled in this type of crap and I would hope that he has enough class to accomplish the same level of professionalism. I din't think this club forum is the place for this type of argument. That's all I ever want to say about this subject, Obi-Wan
