Thanks Arlen and Ken, I have said all along that a clean factory style filter should be all thats needed on most cars. I can not see how a Prowler would be faster just because it has a K+N filter. Barry |

Wow that was a great study. I'm wondering a bit about my K&N filter now....I assume it doesn't let in enough "dirt" to harm the engine, just enough to foul the oil earlier? The K&N really took a beating on this study.... |

I use K&N filters in all my cars and motorcycles. I got this thread from the MINI Cooper forum. The general consensus was that a K&N passes a lot more air, but no one has found any dirt or dust in their intakes. |

Joe - While I can't defend the K & N filter here, I'll state that we don't know that the comparison filters were the top of the line air filters made by the other manufacturers. For example, Wix makes two or three lines of air filters. Was their bottom end, low price series filter used in the test? Don't know. Probably the same holds true for the other brands of filters used,,,,maybe their bottom end filter was used in the test against the top of the line AC filter??? It could be that since one test guy is connected to GM DuraMax division, the test was slanted to favor AC Delco in their results? I don't know that to be true, BUT, I'd leave the door open on opinions on this particular test. JMO |

AC: The only thing about that study that bothered me was the insane ranting at the end...he got nuts with the CAPS letters and started to discredit himself....IMO. Still, the study was very interesting! But I may stick with my K&N especially since I trashed my stock intake box during removal..oops. |

I have been running a K&N Cone fuilter on my MTD Instake well over 20,000 miles. I just swapped out my plenum. There were no signs of dirt or dust. |

I have K & N on my Kat and on my 2 Vipers and Titan. I just did the Titan about a week ago. WOW, It sure sounds better and seems quicker!! Who knows is it just the noise? I like them, what can i say!! ------------------ |

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm I've posted this before. Basically, it says that a filter's job is to filter. Most any paper filter will do fine. The K&N is the filter that lets in the most air and filters the least. |
