UConn Football Team is off to a good start! Except for their lackluster performance against BC! 4-1 not bad. Big game next against West Virginia Oct 13th. Hows your favorite team doing?

If our Aggies win three games we have a great season. So far we won one game.

NU Huskers with their new coach and high powered west coast offense,,,,,,,scored 14 points yesterday, but did win. I guess all I'm left with is 40 years of MEMORIES.

It's the end of the world I'm telling ya,,,the end of the world.

XPGUY.. Army sure didn't look good against UConn. Boring game. 40-3 Field goal that Army's kicker made actually hit the crossbar and went thru. It doesn't look good for you against Navy this year!!If I had a choice of going to either West Point or Annapolis it wouldn't be W.P. You got a good chance of dieing in the Army--Iraq! Not much action on the high Seas. We are the only one who really has a Navy!! lol. Those Iraq's don't know how to swim! & Maybe haven't even seen water!!

Played in three Army Navy games and won two of them. We were respectable in the 70's and still played Pitt, Notre Dame, and BC. Losing to TCU in the last minute was not easy.

Roger Staubach was a Cincy boy. He played at Purcell High School and then went to Navy and played awhile for Dallas. I think he did fairly well.

Well- the bad news is my Louisville Cardinals lost to Miami Thursday night. The good news is they moved up in the AP poll from 18th to 15th. I don't think I ever seen that happen, lose a game and go up three spaces. I'd be happier if we won the game and dropped a spot or two!

It will be so nice being in the Big East. Conference USA football leaves a lot to be desired. How excited can you get when, as league champion you go to a bowl game in Memphis every year. Last time Rebeca & I went to the Liberty Bowl it was 27 degrees at game time!

Big East basketball will be an unbelievable conference also.

Marty - Louisville looked great against Miami. That freshman QB is the real deal. The Cards kicked Carolina all over the field, but I thought Carolina was that bad and didn't give Lousiville credit, but now I'm a believer.

Chuck - UConn doing good. Please don't be too excited over beating Duke cause they are terrible. UConn fball program has come a long way.

My school, Western Carolina, is 2-4. Two pansy wins, one kicking (AUBURN) and 3 close losses. They play in the toughest 1-AA conference, Southern Conference.

Hey Randy - up until the last few years Louisville football has been nothing more than a social gathering to pass time until basketball season starts. Slowly, the program has been building.

Brian Brohm - the freshman quarterback - turned down offers from Tennessee and Notre Dame among others to start as a freshman. I can't believe he chose to stay at home and be a back up for a year. In high school he led his team to three consecutive State Titles and the #2 high school ranking in the country. His alma mater - Trinity High School just played their annual cross town arch
rival - St. Xavier in front of a crowd of 37,500 fans - that's six years running with more than 30,000 in attendance for that game - pretty cool for high school.

If Louiusville's defense backs would learn how to catch interceptions instead of just knocking them down and if special temas wouldn't give up big plays, we might actually beat a ranked team. Those are some big "ifs" this year.

On another note I just found out yesterday from my daughter she is "dating" the long snapper for the football team - 6'3 - 260 pounds. I guess I better have a talk with him!

Randy - he's not as big as I thought - 6'3" and 216 not 260. At least I outweigh him.

Louisville plays tonight on ESPN. I like the exposure the team gets playing on ESPN but I am not a fan of Friday night college games. I believe Friday nights should be saved for the High School teams. Being a 29 1/2 point favorite over South Florida should translate into 1/3 of the fans staying in the parking lot tailgating until midway through the first half.

Marty -

Good luck to the Cards!

A full football weekend.
I'm going to the Miami @ NC State game tomorrow night & to see the Panthers & Chargers Sunday. Taking my son and 2 of his friends to the Panthers game. Hope this hung-over old man (from the Sat. game) can keep up 3 12 year old boys!

I just realized a major rule change in college football this weekend. Since when did referees call out the number of the player committing a penalty? For years the practice in college was just to name the offense or defense as the side with the penalty, but not name the player to "protect their feelings." I noticed on Saturday the refs were calling numbers on each flag and did a doubletake. At last, a change that makes sense.

New this season. I don't think any of the college players are suffering undo stress from having their numbers called out.

I root (and I use that term loosely) for the 1-6 KY Wildcats... probation, 3 coaches in 4 years, now coached by Rich Brooks (who hadn't coached since being washed out of the NFL a couple of years prior).

He's obviously not the answer but we can't get any one decent to take the job... and since decent coaches aren't interested, it sure hampers recruiting, just as the probation and coaching merry-go-round does...

Top that off with trying to recruit against big time football schools like Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Alabama...

We've stunk my whole life, except for two 'up' years with Fran Curci that led to another probation...

I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.
