I have old magazines from 70's up. I have had some of my friends that decided they didn't want their old magazines and ask if I wanted them and of course I said YES.

This morning I was looking at my latest Hot Rod magazine and they have a FLASHBACK to 1982 and shows a `72 `Cuda that is custom painted called the Kaleido Kuda and a `32 Tudor hot rod.

This afternoon I was in the garage cleaning and in a bag was some old magazines. I took them out to see what they were and in the stack was the issue that had the Kaleido Kuda and 32 tudor on the cover........is this strange or what

Now the reason to keep the old magazine. They are great reference resources. My `67 Dart will have a GTS stripe around the rear 1/4's and across the deck lid. Since mine is a `67 instead of a `69 the stripe goes on I needed a reference point to get the stripe in the right spot. The 69 the side marker light is the reference.

one of the old magazines in the sack today had a `69 Dart they were installing the stripe on a swinger (GTS & Swinger had the same basic stripe) So not only did I find a 1982 magazine they had in the current 2004 Hot Rod buit also how to install the stripe correctly on my Dart........ah.....life is good

Larry--don't know why I still have them, but I have many Road and Track and Car and Driver from the early 60's. I have a load of Easy Riders from the very early issues too.
I also had a few piles of early Playboy's, differen't type of Go Karts mags, comics and Hot Rod mags that my Mother saw fit to throw out during a cleaning operation. It's great to look back and see the asking prices of some of the early "classics" .

I keep Consumer Reports for about a year or 2, just for reference. Other than that, I keep auto mags if they feature a report on a vehicle I'm considering purchasing in the next few months.

Because MAD Magazine used to be funny back in the '70s and '80s.

Butch - your mother threw them out? OMG

My mother did a number on me as well. I had double sets of the entire '53, '54, and '55 baseball cards in mint condition. When I got married and left the house, she gave them to a cousin of mine. Many years later when I discovered this, I called him in Florida and asked for their return,,,,,,,was told TOUGH SHXT Later, I read where one set of those '54 complete set sold for 20K

We learn as we GO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

When mom sold the house out from under me and said she was moving and that I couldn't go with her, I had no place for all my baseball card collection. I'll never forget knowing I was making a mistake I would end up regretting when I threw them in the trash.

AC - I got submitted for a job late Friday, but that doesn't mean anything. If I get it, it'll be at terrorist target #1, so keep an eye out skyward for me to wave as I fly by.

You boys who lost your baseball cards are the reason the prices are high. If everyone still had them, supply and demand would not be so far apart and prices would be much lower. Thanks a lot for driving the prices up, guys. lol.

So are you saying it's worth it to buy a complete set or two each year, and put them away????

It may be swinging back to that point. In the early 90s they started producing waaaay too many so those will not go up. The interest has died off dramatically so now they produce less. IF you can find sealed sets of Topps in colorful boxes, it might be smart to buy them. Don't open them, as the price decreases. Don't go nuts with them and they won't be worth anything for quite awhile.
1997 Topps hand collated sets are worth $ 80 but the factory sets are worth $ 200. A hand collated set is a set made up from individual packs and is usually in a plain white box. The factory sets are rare for '97. They cost about $ 30 to 50 back then.
2003 Topps sets are $80, for either kind of set. That does not mean you will get that price if you try to sell them.

We have boxes and boxes of every car magazine available all the way back to the 60's. They've been moved from house to house (11 times) over our married life. Bob says someday he might need one of those to look up something!

I will admit, though, that I went through every box and every magazine looking for articles/covers on Prowlers. I came up with close to 100!!! .........okay, so I'm glad he saved them.

My dad has every Motor Trend from Volume 1,issue 1 until present. They are in excellent condition, in Motor Trend binders. We may be thinking of selling soon.
