i guess its not the tires but the sensors, if all fails i will go with bobs "black tape solution"....i've put the 50 psi in them today and reduced it back to 32 psi to do the reset.... just have to see what happens tomorrow morning.

My low tire light was acting up and Chrysler replaced both rear wheel sensors on their dime. Could that fix your problem?

Try dropping air pressure a few pounds and see if that
helps.

I am presuming you already checked the pressure on all four tires. If it started once the weather got cooler, it sounds like the air contracted and the light comes on. You drive it awhile and the tires heat up, expand the air and the light goes off.
You can try to overinflate all four tires to about 50 lbs and then drop it back. Sometimes that will re-set the tire sensors, supposedly.

The sensors in the tires are battery powered and the batteries will expire eventually. They aren't terribly expensive to replace once you get the tires off. I'll guess that the issue is all in the sensors and not the tires since mine did the same thing...

thanks alot for all your help guys.....i will try the suggestions and hope it works, this car had very few miles on it these past 2 years befor i bought it, i've actually put more on it in the last 4 weeks than it had since new....it behaves like a temperature issue. will try the battery suggestion last, as i haven't found anyone yet that has ever dismounted a runflat from a 20" rim.

tks again..

Dude! Nothing I have tried has helped the sporatic illumination of the low air light--and I've tried all the tricks! While in St Louis it came on a couple times a day;
on the trip to St louis it came on several times--always goes OFF just as mysteriously as it comes on--but on our 600+ miles home to Bama it did NOT come on once--and we are running NON runflats these last several thousand miles! So, personally, all I can say is: GOOD LUCK! BTW, we still use GoodYear tires with 32psi in each one of them--higher than most here would inflate to--yet less than the tires will allow (42psi). They've been thru extremely HOT/HUMID weather conditions, tons of rain, and quite cool temps! Not a damn thing makes 1 iota of diff~so, I say you're spinning your wheels (pun intended) to do anything other than disconnect the friggin' sensors!

i leave for work at 6am , still dark, and i have to look at that dang light for 45 min...i guess i'll try all the tricks first , if they don't work, i 'll have the sensors disconnected as you suggest...experience is the best teacher. thanks for sharing yours.

Some one once posted that the metal cap on the valve stem acts as an antenna to send the air pressure signal to the computer.
That doesnt sound right to me but if you have plastic valve caps on, you may want to give it a go, and put the metal ones back on.

Use plastic only valve stem caps since you are having a problem. The metal ones actually impede the radio signal yet the signal does get through for many logo (metal) cappers. The plastic ones are a 10 cent item but check to see that there is a small rubber washer inside the cap and if so, put a little vasoline on it with a Qtip just to improve the seal. Get the most expensive plastic caps you can find, or purchase from....

Chrysler who recommends their own plastic caps which seems crazy on the surface but DC knows they have the proper seal and that is the reason why.

If moisture or rain got inside due to lack of caps, you may be screwed. The sensors need to be protected from the weather with caps. Sensors are not a cheap item. The last time I checked the dealer cost was $122 each. You may need 4 new ones. The date stamped on each new sensor should be reasonably fresh because there is that shelf life issue. Do not buy someone's used sensors to save a few dollars.
2002 Prowlers use a next generation sensor which cost only $35 each... lucky them.

Run your tires over inflated slightly if you think your sensors are still good. Your weather change statement offers some hope but I am suspicious your sensors are shot.

The over inflate trick (then letting the air back out) can work temporarily but that is all. So don't get your hopes up it if works because it won't last.

Sensors are a very nagging issue for quite a few of us. But there is Life after Sensors. But 4 new ones from our dealers who charge cost plus 10%. Your parts guarantee will begin anew and you'll be smiling once again.

thanks again for the info..

Black tape is great, but don't you get that terribly annoying dinging with your low tire light? At speed you can't hear it but driving in stop-n-go traffic with the warning buzzer on drives me crazy!!
