Heard a lady at the local mom and pop dairy mart tell the one about the Twinkie box on the counter near the register. She would just put one Twinkie in the box and it would immediately sell. She did this all day every day. The rest of the Twinkies were under the counter. When there is a commodity that seems to be almost gone, the demand rises rapidly.

So true. When I was in the grocery store business, we would have real slow movers. To increase sales, we would place a "limit of 3" sign on the product OR increase the unit cost and sign it: Buy One, Get One Free

The results were amazing at times.

Years ago, working as a stock boy at Krogers, they had tomato sauce at 9 cents a can. Were not selling great. So they put them up for sale at 10 for a dollar. Your right they sold like hot cakes.

Well to be honest. This will give my age away but it was the last century I worked at that store.
