On the Wednesday night of Dream Cruise week, a group of Prowler owners that were already in town decided to go cruising on Woodward in the early evening. I warned everyone......especially JD and Marc......to go easy on the burnouts, etc. The police depts. of the participating towns don't look too kindly on that kind of activity and they are always out in full force to monitor the cruisers.

So, that night, we were cruising down Woodward when someone called out on the radio to Marc that there was a cop on his left. The way I heard it, he looked over and saw an officer traveling south on Woodward on the other side of the median. So, he figured he was safe and put his foot into it. Lots of squealing and smoke!! Next thing that was heard was the sound of a police siren!! Marc got pulled over, so I found an empty parking lot and we all pulled into it to wait for Marc.

A short time later, Marc pulled into the lot with a big grin on his face. We'd all been standing around the parking lot speculating on much the cop would be able to take from "MotorMouth" Marc......and what excuses he was going to come up with. He said that Officer Steve Alexander was the nicest cop he'd ever met. After Marc's endless excuses, the cop had said there was only one thing he hadn't heard from him.......to which Marc replied "I am SO sorry". The officer let him off with a gentle reminder.

A short time later, the officer pulled into the parking lot and spent about 20 minutes talking to all of us. He had told Marc that he would prefer not to have to impound his car and spoil the weekend after he'd traveled so far to get here. He was extremely nice and explained to all why they enforce the rules they have.....it's for everyone's safety.

So, Marc got two POA hats out of his car and gave them to Officer Alexander, who promptly put one on for us and posed for pictures. I have to say that Marc behaved himself the rest of the week!

I just can't imagine that Marc went the rest of the week "without" doing anymore burnouts??? There had to be more,,,,parking lots or on side streets other than Woodward Ave.???

No, A/C...........he really did not........spectactors were egging him on while we were cruising on Dream Cruise day, but he showed extraordinary self-restraint. I guess he didn't want to walk back to Colorado!

Wow,,,that is self restraint,,especially for Marc

I'll bet his right foot had twitches in it for the remaining days there. Was JD as self controlled as Marc?

Marc was ALMOST a good boy the rest of the week. Somewhere along the line he ran out of nitrous. What does that tell you????

JD was "selective" on Saturday during the Dream Cruise about doing burnouts, but I saw a cloud or two of smoke in my rearview mirror!

Only did one real nice one, while the water bladder held out. I need to work on not having it drip dry when not in use. But I left two nice strips of 15 feet, 12 inches wide at one stop sign. When back to look at it and you could see where the car actually slid to the left a bit before taking off. Kind of cool.

When is Wild Bill going post the pics of the singing??? lol

WildBill seems to be pretty busy right now. It may take a while for those pics to get posted.

No, I told the cop that he was the sixth cop to pull Marc over THAT day. He just laughed.

My hat's of to the local cops.
What better way to get rid of old (dated) citations.
This one was written in 1962.
I wonder how many called the violation bureau for the fine
or tried to move the court date

Okay, Steve...you were the first to notice. Actually, these were commemorative citations. We have a local periodical called CruisNews. It lists all the cruise night sites, car shows, etc. etc. in the state of Michigan. Comes out every month. They were handing out packets with a copy, an "I Cruised Woodwaward 2004" bumper sticker and this ticket that you could fill out and have a cop sign as a souvenir.

Don't worry John........that's my next story. I have pictures also, but WildBill has the video!

The first thing I noticed was that it said it was a Traffic Citation Souvenir.

Oh sure CJ, post this just after I leave town for the weekend with the family in Grand Lake. Not sure if I got up to 110mph but the rubber was still there the next day. Officer Alexander was truly an officer who knew how to make this "kid" go straight. When he joined us in the parking lot he mentioned he had 3 young sons so JD offered him some trading cards of the Silver Bullet and I pitched in a couple of POA hats I had left from a couple of years ago.
Ed, thanks for your support.
AC, I really did learn my lesson. The next afternoon JD and I went for a cruise on Woodward and as JD said "It's a sign" when we hit 6 stoplights in a row with an open road in front of us and he kept trying to egg me on for a little stoplight to stoplight exhibition. I showed extreme restraint {temporary fear of my car being impounded} until we hit the underpass at either 9 or 8 mile road? and we decided to burn a little carbon off. We only were able to get up to 90 before we decided to behave ourselves again.

Hey Marty, I thought I was out of nitrous but after I got home I discovered my remote bottle valve had quit working. Dang, I had half a bottle left and could've used it if only I'd checked it out at the hotel.

And if you guys all start in on the kareoke thing I'm never going to an event again.

AC, ever hear of the song "It's raining Men"? Well neither have I or any others at dinner that night except my "EX" good buddy Wild Bill. In this day of politically correctness not sure this version is what they had in mind.

Marc - I was rather young when Perry Como was a legend,,,,guess I never heard of that song either.
Ed and Dave Mills might the only ones that know of it?
