I've noticed over the years that alot of folks when selling a car will state that the vehicle has "never seen rain" (hey, I'm guilty of it too).

Do you honestly think this will make a car worth more?
If the car had seen rain, would they demand an immediate $1,000 reduction in the price of the car?

What about washing your car? That's water (ie. like rain). O.K., maybe not like acid rain but, you get the point.

My cars can get filthy just driving around without seeing any rain so doesn't it make sense that the underside of the car would fair worse having not seen rain too?

It never really carries any weight with me either...
I'm always interested in maintenance records, previous ownership in general.....but couldn't care less if it's been in the rain!

On older cars I worry more about salt and snow. Rain was never a problem with me either.

Good point......both of mine have been in rain numerous times (not on purpose). Seems like we can't go to a Prowler event without having at least one day of rain!

They do clean up however........ask Marc Scarbeary about the underside of my cats!!!

That would not even been an issue for me. You can always tell how well they've been maintained just by looking over the car.

Rain never really hurts anything, now hail is a different story...

Who really cares if it was rained on? As long as the car is clean and well taken care of, rain makes no difference.

I think it's "supposed" to show that the car had better care then one parked or driven in the rain and the extent they'll go to keep the car like new. The owner might never change their oil so it's all a crapshoot when buying a second hand car. Does it matter?...dont know but it sounds good.

It really does not make sense. I guess I would ask this then, how does a car get rust all over it.?? In New Mexico we don't have a rust problem, because our moisture level is low. Maybe thats why they say that about never see rain or snow ,no rust????

So true, when my car got delivered from the dealership out of state it encountered rain and snow for most of the drive.

Never seen rain just means: Since it didn't rain on the car, I didn't have to wash it very often. I didn't have to wax it as often either. Matter of fact, I didn't have to take care of the car at all, cause it was never rained on. And, I can't tell you if the top leaks or not, cause... it's never been in the rain. Yea, I drove it to Texas in June, and to Florida in August, but it never got wet. I just left it in the trailer. How was I to know it had to be tied down? I was just trying to make sure it didn't get rained on. Such a deal!

I agree with butchee in that I think the seller is saying that they have really "babied" the car. Kept it up good, garaged it and didn't drive it out of the garage if was raining.

I recently responded to an add on ebay that said "Never Seen Rain-Mint Condition" upon looking at the car it had door dings on driver and passenger doors, the right mud flap was torn off and the fiberglass on the right side panel had a small crack. He stated his wife was the only driver, must have hit something in the road. One fender had a gash and the oil had ever been changed during the 5200 miles on the car. Needless to say I bought the car at a good deal and had all the repairs done for $900.00.

The Rain is not the problem!

Just for the record, I don't "wash" my Prowler, I give it a "bubble bath."
