Those look like Magnum wheels, I would have to see it in person, needs something on the hood, should be more agressive looking, and last not retro enough. Sort of a dodge version of the new pontiac GTO. Barry |

They are showing both a 2 door and a 4 door? I thought it was only going to be a 4 door but that may be wrong. It does not look all that great but sometimes a picture does not do it justice, either. I don't think it looks like the side of the car we saw at the Brampton plant. Hopefully others that were there will comment on that. |

All we saw was the side panel at Brampton. And, not sure that is the same side panel. Although, it could be with all the other stuff added. I thought the windows were more boxey and the rear had more of a tapered look like the Cuda... If this is the new charger, DC has missed the mark on any retro look... ------------------ |

i had a 68 charger.... this doesn't resemble any charger i've seen... they should name it something else out of respect for a classic. |

I also had a '68 Charger. This thing looks more like a cousin to the 300M than a Charger. I don't care much for this design. |

My son has a 1970 Charger and this thing isn't even close if they were going for the retro look. It appears to me that they came up with a half-baked body style and needed a name for it. What an insult to the badge. |

As a charger lover this is Very disappointing and nothing like a charger. DC has lost sight of the retro styling seen in the charger concepts of just a couple years ago. While it may be a fine car, it is a magnum in my opinion and should badged as such. |

Magnum looks pretty cool...but my expwctations for a Charger were a little different! Could be a hit,we'll see! ------------------ |

The 4 door is a rendering by Car and Driver that is supposed to be close to what it will look like. The 2 door is photoshoped to give an idea of what a 2 door might look like. |

I think DC has missed the boat on this one, yes it is great to have the name plate back but this thing is along the same lines as Pontiacs GTO in thinking. ------------------ |

We are not happy with the new Charger either. Holding out all of pre-season for $40million. Can anyone say Ryan Leaf II?

I wonder if this is all an artist's rendering. Laddie and I seem to agree that this does not match what we saw at Brampton. There were about 6 to 10 side panels sitting on a rack. It was the entire side of the car and I don't think that pic looks like it. |

Below is the text from a post in this same section that I started on 4/11/04. Looks like the early information was correct. Also the article scanned above is in this months Car and Driver...if you have not seen it yet. The article claims NO exterior sheetmetal will be used from the 300...but I find that hard to believe...wouldn't make it very cost effective as I assume the car will be built on the same assembly line as the Magnum and 300... My earlier post: I just received the latest issue of Automobile magazine in the mail, In it they have a "sneak peak" of future cars and show the new Dodge Charger! Too bad it is just the new Chrysler 300 with the nose from the new Dodge Magnum wagon! The article says that Dodge dealers were complaining about only getting the wagon version of the new rear drive car and wanted a sedan also, so D/C pasted the nose of the Magnum wagon on the 300 body and will call it the Charger. I was hoping that D/C would bring out the show car Charger that made the auto show circuit a few years back. I had a 1969 Charger in high school with a 383 / 4 speed and when I saw the show car it reminded me of that version of the car. Although it was also a 4 door body, it was really sleak and nearly passed for a coupe. I think the Charger name should have been placed on something more sporty than the 300 4 door sedan with a different grille. I do like the 300 body lines but somehow it just doesn't fit the Charger name! JMO... |

The Brampton Assembly plant has its own stamping machines right in the plant. They can stamp anything, apparently. The 300 and the Magnum are both made in that plant and actually come down the same line but I don't think that limits them to using the same body style sheet metal. I guess we will have to wait and see. According to the workers at Brampton, the car was going to be pretty close to the OLD style. I repeat, that picture does not resemble what I remember seeing but I may have a faulty memory. Anyone else on the tour have a comment? |

Automobile magazine says all different sheetmetal, but looks like 300 to me... Diamler/Chrysler was doing great and now they're starting the old american car trick by selling basically the same car under two names. Why not give Dodge (the "sporty" brand) the coupe and conertible versions and keep the sedan for chrysler as a high end luxury car? Then, even if they look similar, when you see a coupe, convertible, or wagon in the street, you'll know it's the Dodge, when you see the sedan, you'll recognize it as a chrysler. Alternatively, if they really want a four door, do either 1) a 4 door coupe like the new benz CLS which would resemble the classic chargers, like this: or 2) use the charger concept from last year: both options could use the same underpinings of the 300 and look totally different. |

If the folks at dodge want to hire me as a consultant, email me directly. It would be nice if at least one american (or semi-american) company wouldn't sell similar cars badged as two seperate ones. |

Do it right and have two hot cars on the market. Look at these pics! Looks better than the C6 corvette: The right car will sell like pancakes! |
