I'm wanting to get the pontoons on our Party Barge back to shiny, anyone have a suggestion as to a good cleaner to get the oxidation off without a ton of rubbing? I did find one product called "Toon-Brite" which says you just spray it on and rinse it off, anyone have experience with this product? Afterwards I don't mind polishing them up but getting them clean first is the bummer..

I had a "25th anniversary edition" bass boat that was almost entirely polished aluminum when I lived in Alabama. I used a 3M Marine Aluminum Polish that I had bought at a local marine supply store, and it made the boat look almost like chrome. It's designed to bite through the film that brackish water leaves on aluminum, so it may be just what the doctor ordered.

Fred Henkel,
Did you get my email asking where you got your hood scoop from?

Each year we use an aluminum cleaner that is purchased from the boat supply house. Be careful and follow the instructions wearing gloves. It is truly, spray it on, go over everything with a stiff natural bristle brush and hose it off. We found it works better with one person splaying the stuff on, hitting it with the brush and the other fully rinsing it off. Looks brand new!

Make sure you are very careful and wear personal protection equipment, gloves, face shield & long sleeves might be good too

try SNOW BOWL in a spot that would not be noticed and see if it will clean the stuff off once it is smooth and clean then use some aluminum cleaner to brighten, (the stuff you use on shower door trim it is in a plastic bottle and is blue but do not remember the name)

Now this is coming from someone that has has a boat for the past 25 years and started boating 35 years ago. I learned this many years ago that the toilet bowl cleaner would clean the bottom of the boat and is much cheaper than the stuff you by at the marina, and it is basicly the same stuff.

good luck

My Baja Outlaw is coming out of the water early next week. They will use a Acid wash on it! Wonder what it would do to Pontoon's

Chuck, I think that would depend on the kind of acid used!!!

Acid works great on cleaning the bottom. Its fiberglass.
