Driving the Kat down Wed. for a business meeting/golf outing to Myrtle Beach.

This event is held each year during the Carolinas Harley Dealers Rally. Over 200,000 bikers are expected to attend including many of the famous custom chopper builders. OCC has rented a huge nightclub to display their bikes and are going to unveil a new one there. They are using the same club they used last year to unveil the Apache bike.

I'll take some pictures and post next week. If you want to see pics from last year, go and search under Myrtle Beach in May of 2003.

As promised I took a lot (94) pictures of bikes and activities of Bike Week @ Myrtle Beach. I set all these pics up in scrapbook format. I have not had time to edit & upload the best of these pics, but I have made a good start with those of the Orange County Chopper bikes. http://www.prowleronline.com/scrapbook/newscrapview.php?id=496

OK everyone.

I've posted A LOT of pics of the bikes I saw. I actually took more and culled these out of the lot. I hope I haven't offended our administrator by posting so many pics in this scrapbook, but I had a hard time cutting it down to this many.

View and enjoy!

P.S. All the manufacturers and owners said the yellow ones were the fastest!LOL

Randy, cool pics. How many are driven v. trailered and never ridden?
Have you seen the new Honda Rune? Awesome for a stock bike. They made about 2000 of them. Price is about $ 26,000, I think.

Ed:

A group of us were talking about the trailered vs. ridden numbers. Our best guess was about 60% were trailered and 40% ridden. Hard to guessamate but there sure were a ton of trailers parked and on the road going and coming. Of course most if not all the ones for sell by the custom manufacturers were brought in by transporter rigs.

A popular T shirt was black with white letters and said "I rode my bike to trailer week" and had a picture of a bike on a trailer with the no sign over it.

No I did not see the Honda that you described. They had a promotional trailer and tent set up, but I didn't have time to closely look at all their stuff. All the major manufacturers had a presence, but were overshadowed by Harleys and the custom chopper guys. Attendees were probably 70% Harleys, 25% custom choppers & 5% others.

This week is a zoo down there. This other bike week has over 300,000 down there and 90% are on "crotch rockets". 8 were killed down there last year this week due to outrageous speeds on the rockets. I saw 4 trailers full with bikes heading that way on my trip to my office this morning. Many people north of here come through Greensboro on their way down.
