It's time to replace my wife's old, beat-up Intrepid with a newer car. We're looking at a 2000 300M, 76k miles, every option including moonroof and 17" chrome wheels. Not sure if it has the 'handling package,' have to ask the seller on that one. Silver color, professionally tinted windows, new tires, new front brakes, body is in excellent condition.
He's asking $11,000 but said he'd take $9900. I kind of know the guy, he used to work in the mall where I do and he's a customer of mine at the jewelry store where I work. His wife is an international student from Trinidad and he's moving there next month, so he's basically unloading all his stuff at great prices. A co-worker of mine bought a matching italian leather couch and love seat for $400 total that was only about a year old.

Any thoughts on the car?

Check www.edmunds.com. They can give you pretty close values. From what you shared, it looks like it's a very good price if you get the low end.

Was recently driving one of these as a 'loaner' while I had a car at my local dealer and the 'window' was 13995
Believe it might have been a 2001-2 but equipped like that. Was a very nice car to drive...

First of all how many miles do you put on a year? Add that to your total of 76000. Are you paying cash or taking a loan? How many miles will be on it after the loan is up? what will its value be in a few years! I only buy cars no more then 2 years old with under 10000 miles! JMO. Check ebay for a similar car, What are they selling for? Look around you may see something you like better.

If it has a ruber timing belt it will need to be changed soon maybe some one here can give a price and normaly the water pump will be changed at the same time. look at afew service things it may need before you get stuck with it.

Thanks for everyone's advice and insight.

On Thursday we're taking the car in to have it inspected at Brandl Motors, a local Dodge/Chrysler dealership. A co-worker's brother owns the dealership and the head of the service department is a good friend of the family, so I know we'll get an honest opinion of the condition of the car.
I think it's a lot of car for the money. I've looked at many other cars in the 9k-11k price range that are a 2000 model year or newer, and I think the 300M has a lot more to offer.
