Detroit doesn't have turn lanes.....they are sorta like U-Turns......but I'm finally getting the hang of it......very few multiple turn lanes in my area.....see them in Indy.....I always choose the lane that puts me on the side of the street I want to be on after the turn, or the middle one if there are three.....

If its open, I take the inside lane, because more people can see my cars that way...:D

Otherwise take the outside cause your right, usually faster, alot of slow U turns on the inside.

Very few Chromer....we have what we call "Michigan left turns"........to make a left turn....you have to go right...go all the way across the road to a left turn lane and then turn left! ..........hey I didn't build them!!

and those that actually turn left at the intersection are almost always one lane.

In double turn lanes around here the outside lane is usually shorter of two lines, but it depends on the individual intersection.

Depends on the intersection. Sometimes I sneak a turn from the outside lane if I'm familiar with it and can beat a long line. On other intersections where it's legal, I go with the shortest line most of the time.

We don't have double turn lanes around here either. I have seen them when we travel, and I never really thought about it. When I do have them, its usually just the one I'm closest to that I choose.

Some double turning lanes around here! It depends on which lane has the least amount of cars and what direction i'm going in after the intersection. Basicly i'm impatient, I know where i'm going and want to get there! If someone is in my way i go around them!

Chromer...

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

I don't care how many cars are in the inside turn lane, I STAY THERE. All it took was a few numbnutz who drift into my outside turn lane from their inside to tell me I'm safer staying to the inside myself!

The LAST time it happened to me was entering Skyline Drive. I was in the outside turn lane, and some idiot almost drifted into me as she decided she would like to switch into my lane as she turned.

HOW HARD IS FOR PEOPLE TO STAY IN THEIR LANE WHILE TURNING?!?

Like CJ said,we have pretty much the same up here in the Great North-very few double lanes when making a right.
Question that always confuses me is in which state you're allowed to make a right on red and in which you're not.Up here we're allowed to do it,how about you?

We do have a few here in Northern Virginia, and now that I think about it, I guess I do normally take the inside lane. Subconsciously, I fear the person on the inside will drift out into my lane on the outside.

I live in a town with only 2 4 way stops so no one here even knows what a turn lane is.

It depends on the intersection, but I usually take the lane of least resistance.

i always choose before,so im in the correct lane to make the turn.the law says when making a turn at a intersection or going thru you stay in same lane.lets say your turning rt,and your in the curb lane, after completing the turn still be in the curb lane, lets say its 3 lanes, you are not to turn into other lanes.you should live in az.the worlds worst drivers, when i moved from ill.,i always thought indiana was the worst,no offense.az,has them beat by a million miles.they run red lights all the time, they never use there signals, and always turn into the wrong lane.az.haz many 2 left turn lanes.if somebody is in the center ,closet to lane divider, and you are on the inside next to them ,watch out, cause when they turn they will end up in your lane.and im talking a majority here.many times i have had to swerve to right to avoid being hit.heres one.last week going down xway.come up behind young girl in jap car,no offense w/top down going 50 in passing lane ,on the phone also.so i come up behind here see shes going slow and on the phone.she can see my lips moving, and flips me the bird.i wanted to rip her head off,but there was a cop behind us.to bad he didn't see her.you have to drive extremly defensive here.you know those solid white lines people here have no idea what they mean.sometimes i wish i was a traffic cop.cause i would make the city and state more money than they could imagine.

I do the same as Tangled. Here multiple turn lanes are mainly at major intersections, major retail centers or stadiums/coliseums. I get in the lane (no matter the length) from which I will have to make my next turn.
