I heard today 14 to 24 months! The board of her company is meeting today to decide if they should change the name of her Company! It was her name that sold the products! now what! Let me tell you, if i could have saved the millions she did by selling her stocks using that tip and know the most i would do is 14 to 24 months if caught, I would have taken that chance! ------------------ |

What is funny about all of this is that this woman is worth billions but, supposedly wanted to cheat on $200K worth of stock??? That just doesn't add up. She makes more in interest on her money in 10 minutes then she would have made with this tiny bit of stock. So why are they messing with her? Because she is "high-profile" and sends a message to the vast little guys who probably cheat everyday. All this expense to go after one lady yet our country is overrun with millions of illegal aliens |

Of course hindsite is 20-20 and you can speculate on her motives forever, but a lot of REALLY wealthy people make a game out of saving bucks even though it's a small % of their worth. Kind of adds to the empowerment thing and feeling of getting over.....JMO |

Point being, most folks can't comprehend the amount of interest you make on that amount of money but, since you want to bring it back to that level, she is making ALOT more (in interest) then the $200K she supposedly had insider info on in probably 1-2 hours (every day). That was my point! If she was trying to steal 2 million or 20 million or 200 million, yes, I could see that but, $200K? Doesn't make alot of sense. Yes, she could have possibly done it but, I also see prosecutors get so agressive and want to get anyone they get completely blinded by what is right and wrong (witness all the folks that are now getting off with DNA testing that were convicted years earlier). These guys get goaled on how many cases they win, not loose. |

Not sure if she is guilty or not. She certainly didn't plan on all this to save a few bucks. I believe the value of the stock was $200,000 - the maximum she saved by selling ahead of information being released was something like $60,000. Even if she is guilty, I highly doubt it was a planned event. Someone told her others were selling, so she sold too. Probably the first instinct she had was to sell, probably never thought of consequences. If she is guilty, she shouldn't have lied about it. So the taxpayer is now out millions of dollars in court fees to try and jail someone NOT for insider trading, but for lying. We aren't going after every liar out there now, are we? I definitely do not defend Martha or lying, but let's put it in perspective. Let's worry about terrorists and murderers, etc. Martha could be going to jail, and OJ's still running around. |
