Our fees to register our vehicles will be going up by 60% I think it is if the governor gets his way? I wonder if we could get enough Maryland owners of Prowlers together and try to get the Street Rod qualifications changed. Right now it's $81.00 + a $13.50 surcharge for two years but a Street Rod is $27.00 and no surcharge. That means next year it could be $143.50 for tags! We gotta try something. Does anyone know any politicians into collectable cars? How many Maryland Owners do we have here? ------------------ Gary K

Try moving to California and then you will see what a great deal you're getting. Even after Arnold terminated the VLF increase, we're much higher than that. Consider yourself lucky.

Larry, I could take it for an everyday driver, but it's just doesn't make sense for weekenders and show cars because they are not 60 years old for a Street Rod or 25 for an Antique. I want to get street rod status also so I can't get hassled for no bumpers etc. If MD ever starts a yearly inspection like PA I'll have to put the bumpers on every year.------------------ Gary K

GaryDoes MD have personal property tax like northern VA has? In northern VA, we pay sales tax when we buy a car, then on top of that, annually we pay personal property tax based on the blue book value (over $1,000 annually for the Prowler).

MD do you want to talk about horrible yearly inspection and putting your bumpers on each time. I am 95% sure that it was in New York. Some one had changed the Knob on thier manual tranny and failed ONLY because the new knob did not show the gear pattern.Firegabe

Just sent $156. for registration here. Real blast came with increased trailer plates. New system is one time/lifetime registration based on weight (20'enclosed, 3000lb) cost $200, and is only good for that trailer. New trailer, new plate! Interesting new fund raiser here, "driver responsibility act" ie: stopped and don't have proof of insurance, $75.00 ticket (used to drop it if you later proved insurance)plus, $150. per year for 2 years!
