In the sixties, I saw lots of them at the Indy State Fairgrounds...Steppenwolf, Byrds, Turtles, Three Dog Night, Rolling Stones and on and on.....Grand Funk Railroad in Corpus Cristy Tx in about 1973 was very memorable....

but the all time best for me....
...just a couple of years ago, Crosby Stills Nash & Young appeared in Indy at the Conseco Center....I had the best seats I have ever had at a concert....the show was astounding....they have always been among my favorites, especially Neil Young....another one of those moments in time I will never forget...

Several great ones. Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park and Chicago puts on a heck of a show and so does 3 Dog Night.

I used to work part-time in a coliseum that had a lot of rock groups come through. I used to watch them do sound checks and then watch the concert. My favorite was The Boss in 1990 or 1991 I guess. And the Rolling Stones at the old RFK stadium in Washington, DC, also in the early 90's.

Have never seen Neil Young or Tina Turner and would love to see them both.

From "back in the day":

Rod Stewart and the Small Faces at Long Beach Arena, Deep Purple (also at Long Beach Arena), T Rex (at the Whiskey A Go Go), Led Zeppelin (also at the Whiskey), The Who (Hollywood Bowl).

From "grown up times" (so to speak):

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Blackies in Venice and Pauley Pavilion, UCLA), The Ramones (Hollywood Palladium), Cocteau Twins (Wiltern Theatre), Paul Weller (Wiltern), Agent Orange and TSOL (some dive in an alley in Long Beach), Brian Setzer Orchestra (Greek Theatre), original Rocky Horror cast show (Roxy).

But THE single most memorable show ever (I know it's gonna sound weird...):

Laura Nyro all acoustic show (at the Roxy)

WOW..this is tough because I have been to so many in the past 35 years..it's hard to even pick a top 10 list...but I'll give it a shot:

ELVIS (1971)
Paul McCartney and Wings (1974)
Monkees (First concert ever / 1967)
George Harrison (Dark Horse concert tour / 1975)
Chicago (numerous times since mid 70'S)
Jackson's Reunion Tour (1984)
Ringo Starr's All Starr Band Tour (2001)
Beach Boys (numerous times since I was a kid)
Kiss (been to many Kiss concerts, but was at Cobo Hall in Detroit when they recorded the first live album in 1974)
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullitt Band (numerous times)

Just thinking about 10 that stand out in my mind was actually tough, because many more had something memorable about them.....I'm just glad I had the chance over the years to enjoy so many musical artists live!

Dead End - your reference to an acoustic show reminded me of an all acoustic set I attended with Jackson Browne. He played his stuff and some Warren Zevon. It was a great evening!

Aerosmith in 75, Styx in 76 outdoors, Eagles at RFK, Pink Floyd once in 87 at Largo I think and twice in 94 at RFK (I didn't inhale) some others I can't remember. Best was Genesis in 74 at the Lyric Theatre in Baltimore. Peter Gabriel wearing his flower costume. All wood, perfect acoustics and only seated a few thuosand people. Saw Styx, Kansas and survivor at APG Army base in 2001. 2002 was REO Speedwagaon and Eddie Money. REO still rocks the house! After 911 security was a b*tch and last year they stopped them.

I would have to say that Bob Seger was one of my FAVORITE

but when in the early 80's I was working in Hawaii and my brother had bought tickets to go see elton john. I really didn't care to go but didn't have anything else to do that night so I went. It was really a good concert.

Saw Eric Clapton in Madrid, Spain and he was nothing special. But my Spanish girlfriend was... Hum, wonder what ever happened to her? "Oh well" Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green BEFORE they became top 40. Did you know Peter Green wrote Black Magic Woman?

Very privileged to have seen some 'greats' ... at least by my grading system

Saw ZZTop in Austin back in the days of $3 cover charge,(and twice since), the same with Journey, Riders of the Purple Sage, others we wont even begin to cover, some of the bigger names, over the years have included Clapton, Elton John (front row, center stage), Coverdale/Page, Rush, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Journey (25 yrs later).. which was a personal rush.... but that's another story... Frampton, 3 Dog Night, David Bowie, Boz Scaggs, Grover Washington, Arc Angels, W C CLark (several times), Primus, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Lang, Los Lonely Boys, Guster, Luther Wright & The Wrongs, probably others... I'm sure.. but .............

Number One
Hands Down.....

....remember being drug to a show in San Antonio, 1974....had to take my wife to see Helen Reddy(I Am Woman) and Mac Davis(Watching Scotty Grow).......didn't think I would ever survive the evening ......I am woman hear me roar, I am woman hear me roar, I am woman hear me roar, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ....................

also saw Elvis in San Antonio(terrible show), Rod Stewart at a state fair, Elton John, around 1975 in Indy( I think Elton also sang "I Am Woman Hear Me Roar")...Springsteen several times during the mid eighties in Indy, great shows....

...One of the neatest shows I ever saw was "John Cafferety and the Beaver Brown Band"(Eddie and the Cruisers soundtrack).....small club in Indy.....I was standing so close to the band in this little club, the singer and another band member shook our hands between songs and drank our beers....

Pink Floyd put on the most entertaining visual show of any band I've ever seen, but for pure musical talent the very best I've been awestruck by was an encore portion of a show by John Michael Montgomery. That kid can really rock when he wants to!
