....Trying to describe the guy to a friend of mine today....she has never heard of the Sheriff Joe Higgins.....he was the Sheriff ("YOU'RE IN A HEAP OF TROUBLE") in the Dodge commercials in the 1969-1970 era....
....Several years ago I got a call from an old friend of mine that had some MOPAR stuff for me to add to my "museum"...I found out my old buddy was the nephew of Sheriff Joe.....The nephew is not a car guy but knew I was, so he gave me a bunch of collectables from his grandmother(Joes mother)....got a Dodge lamp that was given to Joe by Chrysler, a 18" statue of "Sheriff Joe" and numerous other smaller items.....still have this stuff.....trying to find a picture of him in the commercials to show my friend....the nephew has nothing left at all(I have it )

I don't have a picture but I do remember that commercial. Didn't he say "You're in a heap of trouble boy..Where'd ya get that new Dodge Charger?" or was it where are you going in that new Dodge Charger? Anyway good luck on your search,
wish I could help. Jeff

No picture of him but check out these web sites for all the skinny on him and his career. If your friend is old enough, Joe played Nils Svenson, the blacksmith, in "The Rifleman" series. Blonde haired, swedish type guy if I remember correctly.

Guess he wasn't blonde haired and swedish. I must have been thinking of the blacksmith on "The Little House on the Prarie". Wasn't this guy also named Nils?

Larry.........I paged through all twelve issues of Hot Rod magazine (1969) last night and did not find the ad. Did see some really cool older ads......especially Plymouth that brought back some great memories.

I still have 1970 issues to go through yet!!!

CJ & Bob your house must be packed with Automobila, all 12 issues of Hot Rod from 1969? I just went through some storage boxes and found mags from the mid 80's and asked myself why? but I put them back in the boxes and back on the shelf.

Bob....I am 52 years old and have EVERY magazine I ever bought.....I do throw away the weekly wheels and deals type trash....have Hot Rod back to '56 and Motor Trend back to '59, Playboy back to '64 and on and on........bought some of the earlier mags several years ago....good for research....

CJ....not sure how many print ads Joe was in....mainly saw him on TV....and yes, the old muscle car ads are quite unique, although DC has made some astounding ads in the last few years....another golden era is upon us.....

Bob.......you can't even imagine. You should see our basement! Bob has been saving car magazines since before we were married in 1967....I think all the way back to the late 50's! Car magazines of all kinds....and he still does. I think he gets about every car magazine on the planet!! We have moved 11 times in our lifetime.......six of those were state-to-state moves (his job) and we moved EVERY box of magazines EVERY time. I threatened many times to have the movers make them disappear, but I decided it was better to live a long life!!! I've asked him many times why he needs to save them all and the answer every time was "I never know when I might need an article out of one of them". The scary part is he probably would know exactly where to look for it, too!!! When I started my Prowler collection, I paged through every car magazine he had looking for articles and covers with Prowler. I have well over 80 magazines....to which he reminded me......"see......I knew they would come in handy some day". What's a girl to do???
