I thought their dirty dancing was in poor taste for that venue. I know it is on MTV and a lot worse but they don't need to do that. If they are singers, they ought to sing. Now it is a lot of noise, fireworks and acting goofy. I am out of touch, probably, but I don't want my grandkids to see that crap at age 6 or 8.

Arrived home from NC at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Did see the incident at half-time and was wondering who made that stupid decision? Don't know if it was planned or not, but you have to wonder if the people who were involved in planning and producing this show had ANY common sense. This is a family venue and it was in very poor taste. If she had told Justin to jump off the stage and break his leg, would he have done that, too????

Very very poor taste.....I was watching with my 9 year old son and was just about to change the channel because of the provocative nature of the dancing - or should I say grinding..................and that was before the incident.

To those that are naive enough to believe that this was an accident, I've got a boat I need to sell you.Clearly, this was orchestrated from the get-go. All the songs were sexually oriented in lyrics, and the song Jason was singing had the lyrics, "That I will have your clothes off by the end of this song". Prophetic, isn't it. How many bra/dresses are all in one? Perhaps. If you went to rip it off, what are the odds that it would tear perfectly around just one breast? Probably a bazillion to one. Clearly, this was done to get all the press it did today. I also read that MTV said beforehand, they wanted a real shocker in the halftime show.

Dead on YellowFever, in the pics I saw (link on the best commercial thread) you can see in a close up that the outfit had snaps around each breast... was made to 'break away'.

What I don't understand in general is why the NFL chose hip-hop stars as the half time entertainment. Now even though I am 50 years old...I don't consider myself an old geezer when it comes to musical tastes...but I don't see hip-hop as appealing to the typical "NFL" fan...or any fans in the stadium that could afford a $600 / seat ticket...and there are so many great musical artists out there that could have been on the show....as for Janet and Justin....both must have needed a publicity boost....I guess that's one way to get attention to your new CD release!!!!!

Whether it was planned or not planned, it should not have happened and all those responsible should be accountable.

Just goes to prove there's more than one boob in the Jackson family. There is a time and place for everything. During a televised half time show at the Super Bowl was not the correct time or place. Very poor judgement and in very poor taste.

There is speculation that at least 15 million children saw a man that they think is cool and want to be like, pull the top off of a woman they think is cool and want to be like and expose her breast. What kind of world are we living in????This message has been edited by ET on 02-02-2004 at 08:08 PM

As one of my employees said, It had to be planed. Why would a woman wear a pastee on her breast under a dress if she wasn't expecting it to come out!------------------

Finally its a Jackson getting molested! (Just kidding folks! no emails...) As I suspected all along, and posted so on another thread, this ordeal was indeed planned. Janet finally admitted it was all planned, stating that she didn't expect it to have gotten so out of hand in the media, and apologized. Tho this should not have happened, it is not illegal for a woman's breast to be exposed in public. That is not considered indecent exposure under the law. That said, I have seen topless girls at the beach here get arrested and they were charged with creating a public disturbance. (There was 1 lady there with her grandchild that was, as a member of the public, disturbed by this.) If it wasn't a rich celebrity, they would have been arrested and charged. I'm sure you are all aware that the FCC and other's are investigating this, but the only thing that can be done is to fine all the stations that aired it. How rediculous is that!? Even tho it would be a minor misdemeanor with a small fine for the public disturbance, Janet and Justin should be arrested and charged. And it should be done just as publicly as their halftime show.------------------ Mickey 1997 Plymouth Prowler #156 Custom car cover Mopar front splash guards Real Rod stainless steel transmission cooler cover Mopar Trailer hitch and harness Real Rod weekender Infinity Kappa 63.5i door speakers 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE Leather steering wheel cover Longhorn scratches Boomerschlobber

I saw it and wasn't sure my eyes were correct. We had friends and family over and thank goodness the kids were all playing when IT happened. I'm not so sheltered or prudish (heck I visit a gentleman's club maybe once a year) to not think that these type of acts aren't shown on MTV or like programming but I thought the whole show was over the line for a telecast that was viewed by all ages. My 11 year old boy saw the section of the show where Nellie was grabbing himself and said he couldn't believe that was on a Super Bowl show and said he was glad the other kids there did not see it. I'll admit that I, even at 50, like much of Janet Jackson's music and some of Nellie's. I was naive in hoping that Timberlake had done it on his own. I was disappointed to hear that Janet J. had a part in it. (I'm probably more disappointed in myself than in her for being so dumb.) I NOW don't doubt that MTV staged it and unfortunately CBS execs turned their heads at best. I think & hope that CBS will see some fallout from this. I've personally have had it with them! About a year ago I got fed up with Dan Rather's biased reporting, then the recent fiasco over the Reagan movie and now this. The local CBS affiliate here has had a dramatic reduction in ratings over the past 18 months and a recent report stated that many former loyal viewers had become turned off to CBS's slant and this had effected viewership of local broadcasts. ------------------

Trash on the Superbowl, not only Janets drop top, but men dress in garter belts and hose.

As quoted in a number of sources the other day, I think it safe to say MTV will never be asked to come back to do a halftime event again. The Superbowl committee will never allow it.CBS was also expecting a dramatic marketshare for the "Best of Survivor" show after the superbowl. It was reported that viewership of it was WAY DOWN from what they had anticipated making it a complete failure for CBS. Parents do have a choice and it looks like a majority of them did indeed change the channel.

For me the biggest irony is that, like other things involving the jacksons, the whole incident is getting more press then important things going on around the world like the primaries, go-karts on Mars, and why the Jets will never make it into another superbowl. I bet if it had happened in Europe people wouldn't have even noticed It's not that I agree or disagree with the incident, but I just think it's regrettable how its being used as a ratings-driver.Personally, I missed it since during halftime I was busy kicking back a few brews and complaining about how most modern pop music doesn't seem that good any more. ed

MTV posted this tease on its Web site last week: "Janet Jackson's Super Bowl show promises shocking moments." "MTV regrets this incident occurred, and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it." Despite its apology, MTV did not hesitate to promote the incident after the fact. A Web page headline said: "Janet Jackson Got Nasty at the MTV-Produced Super Bowl Halftime Show." As reported, "CNN quoted Jackson spokesman Stephen Huvane as saying the incident "was a malfunction of the wardrobe. It was not intentional. ... He was supposed to pull away the bustier and leave the red-lace bra." ??????? What a vice grip that kid must have. Able to rip a bustier AND rip just one cup perfectly off a bra (leaving the rest intact. Interesting too is that not only did the bra magically rip perfectly around just one breast but so did the entire bustier. I would think one or both would have ripped all over the place if he was even able to tear it to begin with.... Why would the do this? For national attention ala Madonna style. JANET JACKSON ALSO IS RELEASING A NEW ALBUM THIS MONTH.... Follow the money...... This message has been edited by YellowFever on 02-03-2004 at 01:48 PM

My 50 cents worth:All I know is that if any "normal person" had done the same thing in public, let alone on stage, they would still be waiting for a bond hearing in front of a Judge facing Indecent Exposure charges at the least. HOW DARE MTV! It was obviously planned, totally distasteful and was made even worse when they decided to lie their way out of it, instead of admitting fault and honestly realizing it wasn't appropriate. I have lost what tiny bit of respect I had left for all the players in this. I am glad the NFL quickly distanced themselves from MTV, someone finally cares about more than $$$$. In my opinion was the single most embarassing moment in NFL Football history, and clearly states the sad world we live in. I am glad I didn't have to explain it to my kids as here is what I would say: Son/Daughter, IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT! Do not think Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake didn't plan the whole thing. Why did they do it? I guess they were just raised wrong by their parents. They were not taught the most important thing in life, love of themselves. They so desperately wanted to make headlines that they sacrificed their dignity just to make people talk. If you think the halftime problem was no big deal.........you probably think it's appropriate for Michael to "sleep" in the same bed as children (not his own)and you need to immeadiately stop what you are doing, make a sign, and head down to Michael's Courthouse to pickett for his release from the "unfounded charges". Ohhh...don't forget the after party at Neverland where you will get free Pepsi for sacrificing your morals.

The interesting thing is probably what didn't make it onto TV...a streaker right before the kickoff of the second half got on the field and started dancing the jig. The NFL distanced themselves from that too in a way when one of the Patriots linebackers tackled him ed
