The other day I had my Kat out and a guy with a Honda 2000 was literally drooling over my Prowler and asking all sorts of questions (weight, hp, performance, cost, etc.) He even wanted to sit in it. He said that the owners of the Honda 2000 were upset with Honda because they are producing more of the 2000's and it was only supposed to be a limited production run. The bottom line is he'd really rather have a Prowler and may become an owner at some point.

We did the same drooling, but we still have the Honda S2000. Yes, we were told the same thing on the production but the numbers are not that high. I would tell that guy, keep the Honda and buy the Prowler. Then he would have two cars for people to drool on.

I've raced with my friend's S2000 once. I was quicker in the cat through first two gears, but when that Honda V-Tec kicks in and the rpms start racing towards the 9000 mark, I was toast. Those 2.0 liters are one fine little motor. His top end is also much higher,,,,,he has been to 155. The kicker is his car gets close to 30 mpg even driving it hard.

Thanks Alley Cat.
I've been eyeing up that little rocket for some time.
Saves me the embarrassment and probably some coin.

Alley Cat has said it all. I may add the car puts out 2hp per cu inch, therefore it has 240 hp. I added the cold air system and a supercharger is in the works which will give me around 350 hp, a rocket.
The car was Honda's 50th anniversary sports car.

I own a 2002 S2000 and it is simply a blast. It is a baby F1 car. Shifting at 9000 rpm is a treat. Only the Ferrari 360 Modena comes close to that redline. The car also handles like it's on rails. My Prowler, with the supercharger was quicker of course - but not faster. The Honda will top out at 165mph and does the quarter in 14.2, which is faster than any stock Prowler. All this from a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder motor!!!!

Rich, nice write up. If and when I put a supercharger in the honda what will my quarter mile speed be? Would a v-tech cotroller be worth the money. Thanks in advance

There are lots of options, but a low boost blower with stock gears would get you through the quarter in the low 12s at 115 - 120mph. There are now a bunch of rearend gear choices and most people are opting for 4.77 (stock is 4.10) and the low end accleration increases dramatically. You will need some DOT slicks in the back to get much quicker and not have the car all over the track. Also, the weakest link in the drivetrain seems to be the rearend, so getting enough power to get sub-12 second runs would necessitate some massaging there. It really is amazing what you can do with a little motor that gives you 9000 RPM to play with.
