...I have been in the cigarette/tobacco business since 1966, they were well under $3. per carton then....it all started with my dad getting a few cigarette machines for a $50.....he decided to put them on location....back then we had cigarette machines in outdoor locations (ANYONE big enough to reach the coin changer could purchase product)....we were in the vending business for about 8 years, then progressed to the wholesale side for about 15-16 years....we sold cigs, candy, paper supplies, Coke syrup etc etc over a 50-60 mile radius, supplied supermarkets etc....sold that and retired in 1988....a few years later I was involved in the cig. business again, this time in retail...a friend and I developed the concept of discount cigarette stores, we had the first ones in the nation as far as we know....but to this day, I have NEVER tried a cigarette, or used any tobacco product.....no one in my family has ever smoked except my dad....started when he was 6 years old and quit at 59....I was just curious how many of you, if any, still smoke......

Gave it up a year ago (well Feb 12 last year)... after smoking for MOST of my adult life... quit once for 3 yrs and once for 8 yrs... but most of the rest of the 30+ years I smoked....

For now..... (never know)... I'd say I'm quit for good.
But never say never...

Wife's still smokes... less than about 1/2 pk/day tho... so not too bad... I was most of my time as a smoker in the ballpark of 1&1/2 to 2 packs/day.

I used to smoke until I finally gave it up over 10 years ago.Had a really bad cold and decided right then and there if I didn't have enough willpower I'd never do it!
Never looked back, never had a cigarette since...

Played football when I was younger so smoking didn't make sense for me. I did try some "ganja" but of course I NEVER inhaled. Ganja is what the Nepalese call weed. The high priests (no pun intended) of the Hindu religion smoke it to this day. When I lived in Nepal my Hindu friends would smile and tell me the Hindu priests smoked it to achieve enlightenment. I understood completely having grown up in the the 60's...

Nope, that's one disgusting habit that I've managed to stay away from. I have plenty of disgusting habits without one more.

Tangled I'm with you. Never have never will. I've got 5 brothers and sisters. When we were kids we equated all the money my Dad burned up smoking to how many bicycles we could have had. We had this informal pact that we wouldn't' smoke and waste all that money. Today they all smoke and now whine how they can't quit. I never have figured out the relationship between smoking and being cool. Guess I never will.

Smoked along time, quit now for almost 15 years Would you believe I bought sea store cigarettes for .90 cents a carton. Sea store is when a Navy ship goes past the three mile limit and they take the tax off. I have the best habit now which is the Prowler addiction and I will never kick this habit.

Both of my Grandfathers were tobacco farmers and growing up all the adult males in my family smoked. They all coughed and seemed to easily get colds, plus I was a jock so I promised myself I'd never smoke.

I thought it was strange that my grandfather would work so hard on his tobacco crop, get a little money and then give some of it back by smoking.

Today I'm in the oil business, which means I'm also in the tobacco business at retail with convenience stores. We also sell a lot of fuel and propane to tobacco farmers for their machinery and for curing. Tobacco is still a big part of the economy with farming, warehousing and manufacturing in the Carolinas & Virginia.

I do some business with RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris. In some of the RJ offices there are table plaques that read; "Thank you for smoking".

I never smoked growing up as a kid. As a adult in my mid thirties I started smoking Fine Cigars with my friends after Golf. I do enjoy expensive cigars and bought a few Hundred in Dominican Republic in December. (Gave some to my friends). I will smoke 3 or 4 a week during golf season. But since December I haven't had one. Its a Guy thing i think at a Jets or UConn tailgate party i seem to have one. Not something i have to have. My dad Died of lung cancer at 65, wasn't a pleasant way to watch him go. I'm not taking chances. It amazes me how many females start smoking. Its seems more young girls start then young boys!

Started smoking at 18, quit at 40. It got to the point that I was out of breath just climbing the stairs. Plus my moustache had turned brown and all my clothes stunk. Food had no taste. Been 17 years without one but I can tell you this- I could start right up today af if I had never quit. It does get easier every year though...

I'm only 20... a handful of my family members are smokers. When I was younger, my cousins and I would sneak a cigarette from one of the adults, go off and hide, and smoke it. We never inhaled (we didn't know how). We just wanted to act like the grown-ups. When I got in highschool, I played around with smoking here and there (big mistake). The most ironic thing is that when I was a child, I used to whine and complain about my parents' smoking habit, how much I hated it, and how badly it smelled (and made everything else smell). I ended up getting hooked on it my senior year after the death of my great uncle (a father figure that played a huge role in raising me). I pretty much smoked constantly from 17-20. Then I started realizing just how gross and bad for me it truly was. Luckily, I wasn't a smoker for too too long and was able to quit before it became a huge problem.

Unbelievably, I started smoking at age 22. I smoked more that two packs a day..or should I say "they smoked me"?

On June the 30th 1991 my mother called me from her doctors office. She said she didn't have long to live. A lifetime of smoking had fried her lungs.

I quit smoking June the 30th after smoking 16 1/2 years. (I've been smoke free for 12 1/2 years)

The bad news is that I started and that it took so long to quit. The good new is that I have an (albeit poor) excuse to be 30lbs overweight..

Geez, Chromer that is a scary thought that I could have more face lines. lol. That is true that it ages your skin a ton. I hate seeing young people smoke, especially girls.

The schools, tv ads and other influences are really getting to the kids today.

My 11 & 7 year olds really give my father-in-law and a couple of my friends a lot of grief when they smoke.

Started smoking when I was 10 (it was cool) The high school track coach caught me smoking while attending a football game and told me even though I was an oustanding sprinter, if he ever saw me smoking again I would be kicked off the track team.

Fine Cuban cigars. Prefer Cohiba Esplandido's. Usually smuggle a box or two back from cruises.

As far as domestic, prefer Dunill Esplandido's.

Smoke about 3-4 a month and love it!!!!!

Both of my parents smoked. I have 4 sisters and one brother (who has passed away). Out of six children, only one sister ever smoked.

I have never had a cigarette in my 55 years....never had the desire.

My oldest son did for a short while and quit when his wife became pregnant.

My youngest son has on and off since high school.

Bob (RPL) has never smoked either and neither one of us has ever had an alcoholic drink in our lifetimes, either!

I went to a boys boarding high school and if the seniors caught freshmen or sophomores smoking, they made them eat several cigarettes. I watched some guys puke their guts out and I was never tempted.
