Was just talking to Dean from Prowler Pro and he is down there to help sell a car he once owned, a '67 Satellite Hemi, stick, convertible. He said the car goes on at noon on Saturday and is featured along with 20 other Hemis.

I was very surprised at some of the prices last night. I thought there were a lot of good values for buyers on the no-reserve cars.

With the weaker economy, it seemed like the buyers had a lot more self-discipline, and this seemed to keep the prices in line. I remember watching the auction during the 90's when everyone was fat from the stock market and the dot-com boom, and cars were bid up to ridiculous prices in a frenzy. Unsuccessful bidders were frantic that they lost out, and it showed on their faces. Last night, the unsuccessful bidders seemed comfortable that they had bid fairly up to whatever limit they were comfotable with, and they didn't seem to upset if they were outbid. They didn't seem like they were buying into the frenzy, or letting the ringmen work them up.

I think a lot of no reserve sellers were living "back in the day" when every street rod with a chromed engine and nice paint brought $100K, and now people are realizing that there really isn't that much value there, and are being more realistic with their bids.

A good thing for collectors overall, I think - a "leveling" of some of the outrageous prices from a few years back.

I heard the announcers say a few times how this car would have been twice as much just a few years ago. I thought there were quite a few good deals out there. But when it really gets down to it, if you want a certain car and have to have it you'll pay a little more for it. (If you have the Money.) I think the 3000 people bidding are mostly investers, not guys like us (POA people) who like our Kats and enjoy driving them. I would like to go to one someday, but i want to drive whatever i buy! I just can't sit it in a garage and look at it..

Beautiful 58 about an hour ago... topped $100... nice white early (53-54 not sure) vette just went for $100 .. and I liked that 56 Powder Blue chevy too....

Sure wished I'd already won that $200gazillion lottery... but not yet!...

The early Vette was a 54. The same guy that bought it for $100K also bought a 69 (I think) Z-28 for somewhere around $112K. One of the few 4-wheel disc brake Z-28 Cameros made that year. The buyer was a Chevy dealer from somewhere who was adding to his Corvette collection. He liked the Z-28 so much, however, he was going to add that to his collection too, mainly because it was yellow, at least that's what he said in an interview.

Crazy $ for some of these cars. Guess the economy is back--or didn't it matter to these buyers anyway??

2001 or 2002 Bentley Azure is owned by none other then Michael Jackson.

Was used is some rap video and then headliner/door panels signed by all shooting it.

While a nice car, I sure wouldn't buy one with a bunch of peoples doodling all over the headliner.
If you look at the side profile of the car, it is parked in front of the "neverland" hedge.

Auctioners said they weren't sure if Jackson wanted to sell it or not. He signed papers to sell it but, his staff later said he didn't want to. Only way they could stop auction was if they heard from jackson, himself. this guy is tooo weird for words.

What I want to know is. How did the grass under the open display tents, that were outside the auction tent get wet, all over, under the tent. Boy was it wet and sloppy. I thought it was supposed to be dry like all of the cars. What gets me was the prices the fair weather cars (no side windows or wipers)were getting. This is why I love my car. I just had to tell someone, and thanks for listing. Steve

It's just like Michael Jackson to leave people dangling...

I had no idea Michael was the co-owner of the auction. You learn something new everyday.

If wanted, I'm sure he could buy the whole thing and not be a co-owner with anyone. I saw on TV the other day the new digs he is buying in LA (something like 20,000 sq ft w/ indoor pool, bowling lanes, etc.) because he says he no longer feels comfortable molesting (er, living) at Neverland. He has no plans to sell it though.

Still a lot of good deals there, though...

Did anyone see the white and yellow porthole T-Bird that went out Friday night with 27K original miles plus a full body-off resto, with a streeted-up engine? Sold for the low $40's, if I recall, and it was drop-dead gorgeous.

If you don't focus on the megabucks cars, there were several good deals there, including a few of the street rods...

Apparently one of the bidders on the phone on a few vehicles was Jay Leno...his collection just keeps growing bigger and bigger!
