If someone was to ride in your Prowler these days, what CDs would they most likely hear. I understand we have 6-CD changers, but maybe one or two CDs stand out as "Prowlin" music.

In mine it would be Neil Young or Foreigner.

In 2 1/2 years this CD has been in my car! It has only been removed once to borrow to Marty Usher, Its a sound track from the movie " The Commitments ". The other 5 slots get changed alot. Heres a link to it on the Best Buy store, Best Buys site is pretty cool you can listen to the CD before you buy! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=78442&skuId=442248&type=product

I ripped all my 50's-60's Rock and Roll cd's and then compressed them to MP3 files. Took 6 cd's to hold them all. Now it takes about three weeks, driving every day, to make it from #1 cd to #6 cd. Also have extra set of 6 with swing music, compressed and burned. I don't know the actual amount of playing time to go thru all 6 cd's. Note: check out my fav. Dirty Waters by the Shandells and Rainin' in My Heart by Slim Harpo and Baby Scratch My Back by Slim Harpo. Also: Misirlou by Dick Dale & his Del-Tones and Surfin' Bird by The Trashmen. You want some of the real R & B, check these out if you can find them.

bcoffman,
I still have a couple of days until I pick up my car so I not familiar with what the cd player will do. Did you get a new unit so you can play mp3's? I'm taking for granted that the original unit just plays cd's.

The factory unit is compatible with MP3 format files.

I had no idea the cd player was mp3 compatable. You have just made my day. I didn't know there was any more to love about this car, but you all point out something new everyday. Now all the Beach Boys on one mp3, county on another, the posibilities are endless.

I rip a lot of mix CD's so I don't have to take up a changer slot for just 2 songs I like.

Bob: I got the best of Foreigner a few months ago....I was driving with the top down with it cranked up...and the song "headknocker" came on. (I hadn't heard that song in 20 years and I loved that song so much, but forgot about it's existence.) I got friggin goosebumps....like discovering that song again for the first time! ("Feels like the first time"...LOL) I almost blew my speakers that day.

There's a CD by Cake called Comfort Eagle....it is phenominal with the top down...they have a style like noone else..quirky lyrics and just the best music. It's almost always in my changer in the summer.

There's some great soundtracks that work well....
Cable Guy
X-Files

Other than that, it's blues, rap, hip-hop, metal, rock, mellow...I love it all.

Dido is also great..both CD's she made are amazing...

Black Tie - "Headknocker" IS a great song. My favorite is still "Double Vision." I also like Cake's first CD. There's song I about wore out, but I don't recall the title. I like Dido when I'm alone with someone special...

I listen to a lot of Beach Music. No this is not music by the Beach Boys. It's a mix of late 50s, 60s and late 70s R&B. Tunes from the likes of the Tams, Drifters, 4 Tops, Temtations and regional bands. It got the name Beach Music because it was played at clubs along the mid-Atlantic Coast. A touch dance called the Shag spun off this music and is still very popular today, primarily in VA, NC, SC and GA. This is the state dance of SC. There a lots of Beach Music/Shag festivals held each year in the mid-Atlantic states.

I have collected 45s, alblums, 8 tracks, cassettes and CDs of this music since I was 17. I have a jukebox that plays 45s. I take various selections and take them to a studio in Charlotte and "clean" them (take scratching and hissing sound out of 45s) and then burn them onto CDs.

I also keep 1 CD of jazz and one of whatever my 11 year old son is liking at that time in the changer.

Cakes first CD...Fashion NUgget: GREAT CD If you like that one, their latest, Comfort Eagle, is so much more sophisticated and amazingly well done.

Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" and "Blue Morning" run a close second to "Headknocker".

I have ripped lots of my favorite CD's so I have one for country, one for Rock, one for Classical, one for Jazz, and then leave space for anything new.
One that I have found to be a great riding song is by WAR called Country-City-Country. But you need the long version about 20 minutes. Also Lenny Kravitz has a new version out of the old O'Jays "Money" that is pretty wild.
