Thats on my xmas list. I believe they are only sold by the mfg., could be wrong. So price is fixed. Will also like to be on the group buy. We could contact the mfg. with the group buy idea. Count me in.

Spoons,

Mr. P is correct. The manufacturer is the only place you can buy one new. Here's their web site. Also, here's some comments I recently wrote on this subject on a ... er...a... another web site.

Differences with the V1

Direction arrows to let you know if the radar is in front of you, behind you or on the side. May not sound like much but once you have it, you really can’t go back. I don’t think any other detector has this feature.

A counter to let you know how many radars it’s showing. The idea being that sometimes radar is hidden in know false alarm area. With the counter, you can know it’s there. I believe a few detectors have this feature as well.

You can upgrade the unit. Unfortunately, the upgrade price is about the same as a low end unit. I don’t think other detectors have this feature.

There is a big price difference on this unit. As in it’s one of the most expensive.

Hope this helps.

I knew Escort and Passport were made here but I haven't paid any attention to any of that stuff for years. It is right at I-71 just north of I-275, or at least it used to be.
If there is enough interest in a group purchase, I would be willing to stop in and see what they have to say. I could ship to Canada, too. I am not going to front the money for it because I have never owned a radar detector and have no desire to get one for myself.
Let me know if you are interested.
The company started out like a ball of fire but went bankrupt several years ago and the original owners were bought out. It was called Cincinnati Microwave and it was only direct buy. UPS had hundreds of them stolen by employees in the 70's.

ED,

stop by and see what you can do about a group purchase. I would not ask you to put up your money for the group purchase. I am interested to see what they say.

Thanks,
Brian

I need it down here in Palm Beach Gardens. The Cops on Motorcyles are Nazis. They hide in the bushes and will pull you over for doing 30 in a 25 mph zone. Shouldn't they be out catching real criminals?

I have an old V1, had it for years.
I would be in jail and the keys thrown out if it weren't for the V1.
The best radar detector, and I've had them all.
