This a question for all you prowler owners who are mechanically inclined, or know some really good mechanics. Before my Prowler I owned two really nice older Corvettes. The last was a 72 beautiful black Stingray convertible, and I totally restored it, from motor to stero, to new top, painted it, re-built motor yada yada.
Warranty runs out in the Prowler soon so I want my Kat to move faster. What are your suggestions to make my baby mooooove?? What can I do from exhaust to gears, and can I put a super charger in there?? Can't wait for your replies Christina

Gears is the most bang for ya buck,,,,NOS(nitrous) would be the next step, Superchargers are expensive 7K USD installed, NOS about 1500 US.

All the other add ons are a horsepower here and there.

Tina, my suggestion would be to keep the engine stock and work with the peripherals-low restriction intake, exhaust, headers ect, to get the power out. I had a Whipple blower setup that I got from Mike that made great power but broke parts. I now have a twin turbo setup that also makes great power, but needed pistons to live with high boost. The car is fun to drive now and I wont get sand kicked in my face any time soon, but in retrospect, I should have taken my own advice and just profiled with this car. The small displacement engine and management system makes it hard to get serious grunt without serious $$$$$$$ invested, and even then, you will have a car that wont stand up to much beating without breakage. I think MOST that have ventured into blowers, nitrous, turbos and the rest have had their share of problems. JMO

I agree with Rich - gears for sure! I'd also agree with suggestion of changes to the intake/exhaust. Depending on how fast and how much you want to spend, nitrous is a lot of bang for the $$$ but be sure to have whoever does the instalation check to be sure your fuel pump pumps enough fuel to keep the car from running lean. I drove two supercharged Prowlers earlier this week and was VERY impressed with the increase in performance. With over 100 SC installed in Prowlers the reliability factor is pretty well established.

Christina......what do you want your cat to do? Are you going to race it on the dragstrip or just want it faster on the street? Gears are probably the cheapest way to increase the performance, but also keep in mind that increasing the rpms can also cause increased wear on the engine. These cars were not originally built for speed, and making some of the performance modifications can also cause problems............right guys??

I raced my stock Candy Red on the 1/4 mile last year at one of our events and I turned a respectable 14.9 with a stock car.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

You can literally do a ton of stuff to increase performance from Superchargers to gears to different exhaust etc.but I think the car is designed more for cruisin' than speed itself. To each his own,my personal preference is mods to the body to personalize the looks-as for the speed I leave that for the Viper!

I'm posting this as an observer, but suggest you do a search and judge for yourself the value of a low-restriction intake.

The stock airbox brings in air through the doorjamb at virtually ambient temperature. It has been reported that underhood temperatures get very high. The basic tradeoff seems to be low-restriction intake of hot air vs. stock restriction with cooler air. There have been some postings of ducting cooler air to the intake but, as I recall, the jury is still out on low-restriction intakes.
