I put this shelf up a few months ago, took this picture the other night, Monday this week and the next day when I got home from work I found it all on the floor, the only damage to the car is a bad scuff on the left rear bumper..

sometime one gets lucky

I should have added the stero and speakers gone, three whiskey decanters gone, stinks like whiskey, several collectable elephants they were my mothers gone. case of oil Mobile one mopar in crossfire box oil ok, box junk a number of cars, prowler and dragesters gone, plus the shelf is made of partical board 1 inch thick and 12 feet long all the while only about 2 feet from the car.

So I really do feel that the Prowler gods were protedting my car "SUNKIST"

Next time hit a few Studs,3 brackets in 12' is the problem. That shelf would be ok if you were using it for very light things. My Motto is Overbuild, nothing wrong with excess. Don't quit your day job to become a carpenter

You were lucky, but it's a shame you lost your collectable's and stuff. Especially the Elephants that belonged to your Mom.

Dont worry Chuck, I will stick to cars, hope the next thing to fall isnt my electric lift for my top, but it is mounted with really long lag bolts to the truss , notice I have my fingers crossed. Anyone want to buy a lift????

Glad to hear you faired out as well as you did. I also worry about that same thing happening to mine. So much so I have started construction on a 12 x 20 garage separate from the house just to store all my lawn and garden stuff. I then should be able to move the shelves elsewhere in the garage so it's not near the cat.
