Recently someone asked us about the Prowler colors and whether if they painted a Prowler with the Woodward or BlackTie color scheme, could they pass the car off as a low production Prowler.

What paperwork does it say, i.e. title, this is what the car is? Is it part of the VIN?

Norm - If done right, they could pass if off as either to a person that doesn't know the difference in knowing what to look for. Totally not ethical to sell the car as something it truly isn't! JMO

There has been at least one silver painted to look like a black tie (no pin striping)and sold as a black tie here in CA.

There was a resulting lawsuit and the owners now have the fake and a real black tie. Not sure how it all played out, don't really want to know.

From what I understand the VIN was part of the key to the whole thing...was able to verify original color and order build sheet to detemine what happened to the car.

I agree with AC...completely unethical to misrepresent a vehicle as something that it is not.

Passing something off as original is wrong, period. If you like the look and have a red lets say, and you want to paint it great. But if you go to sell it i wouldn't say it was a Woodward Edition and they only made 153 of them. I have a Candy and there are only 300 of them, so its pretty rare if your looking for one. Thats about all i would say. If you want a candy the chances your going to find one is lower then say a Black. By the time you pay to paint your red to look like a woodward you should have just bought the Woodward.

Curtis - Yes, Mike/Judy have the last candy red cat built, aka the last retail production Prowler built. Mike/Judy also have the last Prowler built, the HV Blue Prowler w/white interior accents. As the museum curator, I'm in charge of keeping these beauties clean and well maintained. Currently,,,,,,,,underpaid
