I was just sent this by one of the BMW owners that we know. They checked out the website for Tail of the Dragon and they had put out a new picture of the four of you. I don't know if this is after or before the cliff. Tami

Tami - I saw it this morning. It replaced the pic of Reba & I by our car. This was before the over the edge incident and right after motorcycles on the way up signaled us there was a slow moving vehicle ahead. That's the only reason we are so close together.

Thanks for posting the pic.

Marty

Tami - if you look at the pic of the tractor trailer going around the car and truck pulling the canoes, the Pontiac is the Einstein that parked on the inside of a turn to walk his dog. The pick up/canoe guy had to go around him and was in Frank's lane when he and Brandie came around the turn. The "stalled" Pontiac started right up then and the Park Rangers had to locate them and tell hem to return to the scene of the accident.

Marty: Thanks, I will go back and check that out! I was wondering when I saw that picture if that was the same truck, etc. What kind of an idiot stops his car on that road to walk his dog?!?! Didn't realize that they actually found the other car! I hope they have to take care of the insurance on this one!! Amazing!!! T

I did not talk with the driver of the car. I was told he said the car stalled there and then he got out to walk the dog. IT seemed to start right away after Frank & Brandie were over the edge. They did stay long enough to see that both F & B were OK.

Frank: You don't get the full effect of just how far your car went down the cliff until you look at the pictures that McRealty linked to. Unbelieveable!! You definitely had an angel on your shoulder that day!!! T

Frank if the bumper works out make the check payable to St. Judes and send it to Marty Usher to donate under the POA. It was unfortunate this happened but someone was looking down and taking care of you so I feel the money for the bumper should go to good use.

Frank - looking at the pics on www.killboy.com it just amazes me how lucky you and Brandie were. I was there, and I still can't believe how it all turned out.

On the bad news side is I may still run my car hard (very hard) in a stright line, but I have a whole new respoect for what can happen on the mountain twisties. Next time I will traveling at more leisurely speeds.

I got a couple of questions. How are you guys getting some of these pics off the site? I tried the right click save and it told me it was protected and I couldn't copy them.
Also, I was telling a friend of the cliff diving team and they asked, "If the fallen tree had not stopped them, how far down was the drop?" and I didn't have an answer... ???
