Al,
That thing is HUGE! The engine I mean. You would think they could find a more efficient power source. Maybe turbines or something? I read the page on how efficient this thing is, but the hourly consumption is still WAY up there. But, considering how much these ships way, I guess it's worth it to them.

JP, I think longevity is a big factor with this design. Making 5 1/2 MILLION ft/lbs of torque at 102 RPM , there will be less wear then a high spinning turbine. Pretty damned amazing to me.
