I went to a car show Friday night and the organizer was picking out vehicles as they came in to park in a special area. I drove on by and he motioned me back and had me park in the best spot next to a new Corvette. Everyone was checking out the Prowler (the late evening sun was hitting the silver paint just right) and overlooking the Vette! The Vette owner got mad and left!?! I think his name was Rick. This evening my grandson and I went to a local park and saw a highboy under construction but so far nicely done. We parked beside it and the guy came running over and took at least ten pictures from every angle with his car and the Prowler together. He loved it that I parked beside him!!! His name wasn't Rick. I used to be hung up on one particular kind of car but as I have gotten older and hopefully wiser I am just a CAR GUY. I everyone's car for what it is and what it means to each individual. Life it too short not to enjoy all of the good things. |

I guess we have a problem, we love all cars, old, new cheap or rich. We see the same folks at our local car shows and at some of the drive in's completely ingoring the newer cars vipers, saleens, prowlers etc. and goggle ganging on when they see an old car which was recently washed. I think tangled up in blue has it right ( jealousy ). ------------------ More 'Pumpkin' photos . . . . . More cars and other stuff New pictures in Personal Scrapbook (02/23/03) |

There are definately different camps.....I like all cars, but many rodders don't accept anything made after 1949....some cut off at 1955, and one big show I used to attend had a cut off of 1970....my muscle cars were always treated like dogs at a cat show...parked in the back in an open field, no shade etc etc.....but the crowds always find what they want to see regardless of the parking arrangemant.....went to a small (maybe 25 cars)local car show a few years back, drove a Viper and parked at the edge of the event, not an entry....pretty soon there were more people over the fence looking at the Viper than there were looking at the old hot rods....realizing I had created a stir, I soon left so the show could continue....never can see enough '48 Plymouth sedans with drive in restraunt trays hanging on the window and painted with a roller |

Same happens here in my area too. I feel the same . I just love cars and good people. I belong to a local car club that feels the same as we do. We allow anyone who loves cars to join. We have some Street Rods, Muscle cars, Late model cars, PT Cruisers, mini Trucks, Antiques, 50's Customs, and a handicapped member with a Motorcycle and sidecar. We all have a good time together. That's what the hobby is all about. Cruising, good stories, and making friends. Happy Motoring!! Jim This message has been edited by Top Kat on 08-18-2003 at 11:26 PM |

I know what you mean about SOME corvette guys the last show I went to was with the local Viper Club, we had 4 Prowlers in attendance, 2 of the corvette guys polished and dusted their cars all day we did the quick clean and sat back and talked about cars and talked to people and let kids sit in the cars and guess what, Duane Hanson cleaned up 2 Awards and the only thing the vettes cleaned up was the ground around the cars. ------------------ |

I've been shunned at some local cruise ins by some of the pre '72 crowd. Many of the shows and cruise ins here are sponsored by Good Guys and I think to be a member you must own a pre '72. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bad mouthing Good Guys, they do a lot of good things and on the whole are a great group. Most are nice, but you can tell when you are not in with the regulars. I usually just cruise by, park in the back or off to the side and walk thru. Many of the owners come up and talk and welcome you, but some don't say a word. Most of the "lookers" do gravitate to the Kat. I ALWAYS have 10 to 20 of the Maisto (like Matchbox) yellow Prowlers that I give to the kids. Thay LOVE that and it helps to break the ice with the few cold rodders. ------------------ |

I am a "car guy". I like all sorts of cars - street rods, muscle cars, exotics. There are kit cars I like such as some Cobras. I've owned three Vettes and even a twenty year old Rolls Royce in the past. Some people get very territorial about their type of cars. That is their perrogitive. I hear others (even on this board) talk down about a particular car or type of car - Corvettes, SSR, and "Rice Burners " come to mind. There will always be people who love our Prolwers and others that don't. The important thing to me is I LOVE DRIVING MY PROWLER. Happy Prowling Marty |

Prowler leads-the rest follow! Even my Viper never gets quite the attention of the Prowler.I guess most of the cars in Tennessee will have to hibernate when the Prowlers show up! |

One of the reasons I got rid of my 98 Camaro Z28 was that I got tired of the Mustang/ Camaro rivalry. I got tired of every Mustang trying their luck against me, and I would have to blow their doors off to show them who has the faster car. It was fun for a bit, then got annoying and started to get me in trouble...Then the final straw was when every Fast and Furious wannabe started to drag me...Imagine sitting at a stoplight in a 350hp car, and next to you is a Neon with 4 kids in it revving the engine....LMAO! I thought there would be no direct rivals to the Prowler and people would enjoy the car for what it is. Then I discovered rivalry/ snobbism with Vettes and Viper owners, and Hot Rodders even snub the car sometimes....Then to add insult to injury, I discover rival Prowler boards who look down on US for enjoying the car as is and not blowing up the motor every week. Really, people in general are petty and jealous....Not much hope for humanity anymore... |

I find it very difficult to "look down" on anyone while seated in the cat. Maybe kids in go-carts, that is about it. While standing up I can look down on about 90 % of the population, however. lol |

Hey BT - I only blow up my motor every other year! I promise to try harder to blow it up AFTER the Smokies event. |

LOL Marty. You may be accused of assault and battery to motors, But the difference is you don't have a chip on your shoulder, and you don't look down on us who think that pulling the baffles is a mod... |

I also have found out that most in the Vette and Viper clubs are snobbish towards the Prowler owners. I enjoy talking to many of the PT Cruiser club because many of them seem to love the cat and wish they could have afforded one. To the Vette owners you can always say: One of those on every block, aren't they? |

I have to agree with all of you also, car shows are to be a time to enjoy and not envey. We have experienced the snobs, morons and just plan fools, have noticed the viper owners that show up park near the prowlers to get their cars noticed and the vette owners just hang by themselves.I also stopped taking my 67 Camaro to the shows because 300 + hp kept getting me introuble so we slowed it down a little by taking the prowler instead.I guess we are all car nuts and have fun with them. |

Nice cars are just that, nice cars, and should be enjoyed and APPRECIATED by all. If some one gets uptight by a too new of a year, or certain kinds of cars, it's their problem, not ours (or yours) JRL |

I have also had a problem with most (not all) Viper owners. At a local Mopar meet even one of thier own group walked over and chatted with us and the PT Cruisers saying we seemed more friendly. I hear the Viper club may not be invited back this year because they started making too many demands. I just don't understand why we can't all just share a love of cars. |

Larry Lord can attest to the fact that DEADWOOD loved us because everyone was nice and friendly and no one was making demands. |

Years ago when Cnote6 was about 5 years old. I was dating a guy who belonged to the Corvette Club and we used to go to the races (I guess that is where he got the bug) but anyway, from the people I met, there was not the comradrie that I have seen on this website. You Prowler People are THE BEST!! Can't wait to win that Mulholland Blue one in October!! Yeah!! |
