I have mentioned before that my daughter owns a MINI Cooper. Like me, she is a member of a forum where MINI owners can talk about the cars, schedule meets, and various other things. The site that she visits is called minicooperonline.com. Well BMW is threatening action against the owner of this site as well as any other site that uses the MINI word in their name. As car owners who are enthusiatic about their cars, any support that you guys could lend would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the link to the web site. You can read the thread about BMW's actions as it is mentioned at the very begininning of the website. There is also a link to sign a petition against BMW. Again any support you could lend would be greatly appreciated. We don't want to see car enthuisist board going down because big corporations are greedy. http://www.minicooperonline.com/ Thanks, |

I signed. This reminds me of the VW dealer sueing one of its customers for liable remarks when the guy only told the truth with nothing but the facts. The gound swell and volume of the internet reaction quickly changed there minds. |

Now why would a car manufacture want to prevent it's owners from organizing? Think of how much more difficult it is for them to get away with discressionary repairs now that web sites keep the users informed and organized. ------------------ |

I did a search on the mini and the site I ended up at I noticed they have their own mini cooper "lounge" that they want you to register at... and they are stating at minicooper.com that they are prohibited from using anything with mini in their site name, but the atty for BMW seens to have provided some acceptable alternatives WITH mini in the name... hmmmm, interesting... ------------------ |

I can tell the founder of the site what to do about it. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ! NOTA. Just stay the course and carry on as usual. |

I signed it... that's just totally outrageous! BMW will accomplish nothing but alienate its existing customers and drive down interest in their products by attacking motor clubs. |

I forwarded these discussion links to my local news broadcaster... Perhaps they will make a story out of it. |
