Associated Press Possible Defect in Dodge Durango Probed Monday July 21, 5:46 pm ET Dodge Durango Investigated for Possible Defect That May Have Led Some Drivers to Lose Control WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government is investigating an alleged defect on the Dodge Durango that has led some drivers to lose control of their vehicles, according to documents released Monday. NHTSA is investigating Durangos from model years 1998 through 2003. There are 450,000 Durangos on the road from those years. The agency will seek more information from DaimlerChrysler AG before deciding whether to upgrade the investigation. A spokeswoman for DaimlerChrysler didn't immediately return a telephone message left Monday. |

We had to have ours replaced too. The steering was really loose before we did. I just attributed it to the amount of off-roading we had done with our D. I don't know if we will have this problem anymore though. On July 5th, we had a guy turn left into the front of our truck and the force was so strong, it pushed our left front wheel all the way to the frame. Thankfully nobody was injured. Our airbags did not deploy but the the guy who hit us (in an Altima) got his front end wiped off and his air bags did deploy. If you would like to see an animation of the collision, here is the link... (we are the blue animation going up) We are still waiting for the truck to be fixed, hopefully it will be done this week.
