Don't forget to vote early and vote often today!

Should be interesting to see how it turns out north of the border.

The poles (as in Polish) usually vote Liberal, but the polls (as in opinion polls) are looking conservative

Just curious, does the Canadian election system use punch cards?

Do you also have a system of absentee ballots whereby military/diplomats/business people working outside of Canada can still vote?

We haven't updated to punch cards yet

Still handwritten "X" marks the spot.

We also have advanced polls which are increasing in popularity. I, along with many others have already cast our ballots

MD -

I kept trying to get updates last night on network and cable TV and could not find out anything.

This morning it appears the Conservative candidate Harper won. Maybe this will make for better Canadian - U. S. relations.

What do our Canadian friends think?

US - Canadian relations are sure to improve.

Unfortunately, I fear that not much will get done in the short term in any area of government.

The Conservative party won a "minority" which mean that they will have to work out a deal with another party on each issue in order to get it passed. Unlike the US, we have 4 political parties with differing views all gabbing votes. You need 155 votes on any issue to get it passed.

Election results were:

Conservatives 124 seats
Liberals 103 seats
Bloc Quebecois 51 seats
New Democrats 29 seats
Independants 1 seat

Liberals have just lost the trust of so many voters because of scandals and cover-ups.
Conservatives won because of their shortfalls......we'll see how many promises they keep and how much was smoke and mirrors!

All of the BAD relations between the US and Canada can be traced to one balding American with a red Prowler that refuses to pay his fine to Canada. Here we have all these hard working politicians in the US and Canada trying to improve relations and one American messes it all up. I think all our problems could probably be traced to this one American. (Unnamed...of course)!!! JMO

....but we have a good idea where he is. Over thewinter, he is probably hiding deep in the hills, but come spring, we'll find him out on the short green stuff. We'll hunt this guy down

But I still won't pay. I am thinking of selling some Swarovski items to raise the cash to pay the fine, stay tuned.
