The guys on the Discovery channel TV show "myth busters" proved that gold fish do have a memory of much more than a few seconds because they conditioned them over a period of days (swimming thru a water maze to get food and timed them on how long it took). So much for that myth.

"If you are an average American, in your whole life, you will spend an average of 6 months waiting at red lights.

This is not believable. Consider the following: Assume life span of 75 (male is less). That would be 1/150th of average life or an average of 1/150 X ( 24 X 60) minutes per day. That would be 1/150 X 1440 or 9.6 minutes per day.
MAYBE the average urban commuter but, not the average American. INTERESTING STUFF!
