Detroit is really cold and sucky when it rains in January...

Challenger is BEAUTIFUL, still want one and so does my son(and so does virtually everyone else in Detroit)...

Camaro is really sharp too, but I still like Challenger best...Camaro, distant 2nd choice

Ford GT...already yesterdays news, no crowd today at all...looks good in black

Mustangs, still hot and drawing lots of lookers...especially the Shelby 500..

Hummers, familys still like to sit in them and look around, like anyone with 8 kids could really afford one in the first place...

Pontiac...still trying to sell the GTO, the guys that used up the GTO and Charger nameplates on those two cars should be put in a cage match and left to duel to the death... Solstice, a little crowd interest but certainly not tearing down the fences...didn't really look at any other Pontiac offerings, too close to the Buick display...

Corvettes, everybody likes sitting in a Vette, getting their pictures taken and looking at themselves in the mirror, they are nice !!!

Chevy HHR is a really nice piece of work, beats the PT hands down....crowd likes it, kids love it...

Buicks, uhhhhhh not old enough to look over there yet...minimum age limit was 75 to enter the exhibit....spokes model looked like Ed Monahan

Mini Cooper, if I ever need a car to hang on my wall, I will buy one...

Porsche, I would rather have a Viper and $50K in my pocket...

Caliber was attracting some interest...glad I don't need one of them...

Viper SRT C, great car, but overwhelmed this year by the Challenger...

Charger Daytona/Super Bee...apparently DC still gets black vinly tape on sale really cheap...

Chrysler 300 Heritage(I think)....very sharp car....why didn't they have red when I wanted to buy one...looks really good in red...

Imperial....uhhhhh, kinda like a bordello with 4 doors, 4 wide open doors...I would be embarrased to drive it off the lot...

Jeep SRT8...I have a silver one on order and glad I do, they are really a sharp ride....anxious to see it arrive...

foreign cars, sorry, I have zero interest in any of those....Mercedes did have a sporty coupe I liked....forget what number it was though..why cant they just call them a Galaxie/Fairlane....something I understand and remember...

Caddys.....if you want to pick up old chix with way too much makeup on, the XLR is your ride...personally like them, resale values really suck...$15K nore than a Vette and depreciate like a rock in a pond...

uhhhh, did I say the Challenger really rocked my socks off...

....the show girls looked older than I remembered in the past....the slacks they were all wearing this year were so thin their cellulite showed thru (and most had plenty to show), the Camaro had a showgirl GUY....

there were cars downstairs, I had never seen them there before, nice displays there too....64 GTO vert was a show stopper...

all in all, a great time was had by all....weekdays are the best time to attend, small crowds and the show girls give you more personal attention

Mr. Ed and I both won Challenger t-shirts from the Challenger show girl for answering trivia questions about old Challengers(whew)...my shirt would probably fit her better than me, not sure if it would hide her cellulite though

calling my local DC dealer tomorrow again to confirm my order for a new Dodge Challenger SRT8..........

..........a great meal at Wendys on the voyage back to Indiana and Mr. Ed bought Fun Meals for everybody...

Thanks Tangled: Your ability to judge cars is right on with my views. Frankness about people watching and listening to comments is a great indicator of what others will be thinking when the car is seen on the streets or in a parking lot. Crowds tell it all of which manufactures will sell them all. Can't wait till the show comes here. Great job buddy....

I knew we should have sent the Lucid Eye along for his report,,,,,,you got to be kidding us tangled?

Agree with Ed,,,,that HHR is a shoebox looking piece of crap, and the front grill says its ready to puke! Sales on them are 'slow' here,,,,,only the morons who pre-ordered are driving them,,,,and being laughed at. Can't say that I've checked out the interior on one,,,,don't want to get that close I'm canceling my subscription to the Taco Bell Automotive News!

....I personally don't want an HHR, but the crowd was all over them....the PT on display was getting no attention, but in all fairness, it isn't a new item anymore....a couple of custom HHRs there looked pretty Kool...

sidenote....the SSR was still drawing a few picture takers too....

the "Lucid Eye" wanted to make the trip, but was a little short on admission money and he already owes Mr. Ed for a new flee collar....his recent drinking binges have cost him too much time off work and he is currently financially embarrased...so the "Eye" stayed at home looking for some obits to write, hoping to make a few extra $$$...

I didn't realize that my posts were affecting the "Eye's" financial status. I guess I better let him post the obits! As for Detroit, it scares me a little to say I agree with your assessment.

I like the Challenger and Camaro too. Wonder how far off the Trans Am is if the Camaro comes back?

Last time I checked the new Viper was around $86K. Add $50K to that and you have very few Porsche's that are $136K or more. I think only the Carrera GT and 911 Turbo Cabrio qualify.

The new Porsche Caymen S is breath taking and fast. And can be had for around $58K.

While I like Vettes (I had a 99), I'm not ga-ga over them. That is till I saw the new Z06. All I can say is pictures don't do it justice. I saw the pictures and thought it was o.k., In person, it's a totally different story and one heck of a beast. I'll wait till the "please let me pay $20K over sticker" hoopla dies down and then get one.

TUIB - Appreciate the comments on the Detroit show.

Pass my regards to the Lucid Eye. Guess you could say he's in the "dog house" now...

Yellowfever - You and I never agree on anything, but I also like the new Vette. My neighbor just took delivery of a new Z06 in blue and it's a beauty!

Well, like anything.....the review is all personal opinion!!

I can't believe that you think the HHR is nicer than the PT. I looked it over very closely and I was very turned off by it. Lots of cheap plastic surfaces in the cargo area compared to the carpted area in the PT. If you look at a row of them on a dealer lot, with the grill they have, they look like mini-Durangos. Very boxy and I don't think they have any style whatsoever. I'll stick with my PT....of course that's all just my opinion!

Remember that the Imperial is just a concept vehicle, not production. I doubt they would use the two-tone interior it has as a production item. With a solid color interior I think the car is very classy. JMO.

Regarding the Firepower, this was in this week's issue of Automotive News (yes I read it every week):

DETROIT AUTO SHOW

Firepower Corvette fighter is still on Chrysler's agenda

Automotive News / January 16, 2006 - 6:00 am
North American International Auto Show

The Chrysler group will decide the fate of its Corvette fighter in the second quarter of 2006, says CEO Tom LaSorda.

The sleek, two-passenger Chrysler Firepower concept was a star at the 2005 Detroit auto show.

"Firepower is on our agenda," LaSorda said. "It is something that will come to me, probably sometime in the second quarter. We're looking at a lot of business cases, and that is one of them."

Based on TUIB's Exceptional Report ... we can also now dedeuce that Ed is neither a "crowd" nor a "kid" (Chevy HHR is a really nice piece of work, beats the PT hands down....crowd likes it, kids love it...)

I look forward to the 14th of Feb. That is the day I get to take my annual pilmage to Chicago to go the the Auto Show. I have about a gig of pics from over the years (8). I look forward to checking out the Challenger. I have seen quite a few pics in all of the car mags I get. I am also interested in the Camaro.

One of the things I have been most disapointed in over the last few years of going is the colors of the show cars. Not to offend anyone, but I don't consider silver to be a color, probably to me it looks grey, and having spent enough time on ships in the Navy, I want no part of it now. (thats not to say if the price is right I would'nt buy a silver Prowler but the price would have to be exceptional)

Thanks for the info on the Firepower....I really like this car. I just hope that if the car is produced that Chrysler can put some sort limitations on their Dealer's with regards to how much mark up is allowed. Outrageous mark ups definitely affected Prowler sales and have pretty much killed the Crossfire as well (or was it the cheesy interior). I don't recall any of this BS going on with the latest version of the Mustang, there everywhere, great sales....people lov'em.

Remember I am in Canada, where they are asking $135,000 (Cdn.) for a new Viper . Then they complain about the low sales. Oh well....what do I know anyway??????

Jimbo - I see you have good taste in cars, and wouldn't get close to one of those nasty HHR's

Norm got it right on: "HHR---How horrible a Ride"

Tangled - those crowds standing around the HHR's,,,,,,,GM employees from the HHR plant and SSR plant,,,,kissing up for a transfer to a production plant with a future, lol.
