There was another interesting article in the latest issue of Mopar Magazine called "Plum Crazy About Color". Bob Fritz is retired from Chrysler Styling. He helped introduce the wild car colors of the 70's. Fritz and the others in Chrysler Styling came up with a rainbow of wild colors. Colin Neale was in charge of color then, according to Fritz. Elwood Engel was VP of Styling. John Herlitz and Tom Gale were studio managers. "They backed it," Fritz said. It was a really interesting article. Do you remember these colors?

Starting in the 1970's:

Plum Crazy (metallic)
GoManGo
Vitamin C
Hemi Orange
TorRed
Lemon Twist
Banana
Bright Green (metallic)
InViolet
SassyGrass Green
Bahama Yellow
Butterscotch
Curious Yellow
Citron Yella
Moulin Rouge
Panther Pink (which he called Penta Magenta)

remember 'em, I've owned almost all of them(all but the butterscotch) on various MOPARs.....never had a butterscotch MOPAR but I owned a Challenger T/A one time that was the color of masking tape with a green vinyl top and green interior....one of the nicest Challengers I ever owned, but it sure was an ugly one....sold it to a guy in Florida...

ps...there are two names for each color, one name for Plymouth and one for Dodge

example...Panther Pink-Dodge
..........Moulin Rouge-Plymouth....both are the same color

the alternative to Sassy Grassy Green was 'Green Go'

Penta Magenta? I'm putting Bob Fritz under suspicion.

I sure remember them. Loved them.
I'm missing Corporation Blue or Petty Blue. What was the call name for that one?
I understand that there is an exhibit of auto artwork from the 70's somewhere in Detroit thru March. Might be worth a look.
