On page A5 of today's Washington Post and I read about a former Air Force subordinate who's going to prison for bribing a Louisiana congressman. The "esteemed" congressman from Louisiana is Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-LA). Brett Pfeffer has pleaded guilty to bribing Rep Jefferson in return for access to a $45M telecommunications investment opportunity in Africa. Brett Pfeffer worked in my office in Congressional Affairs at the Pentagon on the staff of the Secretary of the Air Force, back in the early 90's. Smart guy but a little to slick for my taste. I should have kicked his a$$ when I had the chance! Now he faces 20 years in the "big house" and someone else will take care of his a$$ (pun intended). He got out of the USAF in the 90's after four years.
