Looking for any comments on what you thought of it.

Any interest in doing it this year?

We go every year ... have since it was considered Industry Night and you had to be in or have close connections with the auto industry. It is now on Thursday (not Friday) night and anyone can go so long as you pay the $200.00 per person fee (which goes to a charity of your choosing and thus is Tax deductible) and come dressed in formal wear. Once there, free and unlimited adult beverage stands (beer, wine and champagne) and a huge variety of gourmet food stations as well ... you will get stuffed and intoxicated if you desire. From the car perspective, its really the ONLY way to see a show of this size (as opposed to general admission days) as you get up close to the cars and even onto the turntables if you ask nicely. I highly recommend. Meandmykitty and his kitty may join my kitty and I this year ... let us know if you decide to make it, will pick a meeting point. Hope that helps.

Ray,
Is the 4 hours the show is open on thursday enough time to see everything? How crowded is it compared to a normal day? Are they still selling the junk upstairs on thursday?

Thanks
Brian

It all depends ... if you like to wade through the various food displays (from jumbo shrimp to sushi to dim sum, to dessert trays) and enjoy a leasurly cocktail or two while they announce the raffle car winners, it can be a bit tight doing it all in 4 hours ... but crowds, compared to general admission day? A fraction!!! And all dressed to the 9's! As much eye-candy on two legs as there is on four wheels! We see everything, but then again, we don't stop to look at each and every car - have favorites and always check out the cool concepts and exotics. Also, not really any "kids" there either ... not at $200.00 a head! Not sure what "crap upstairs" you are talking about ... been so long since I've gone on a general admission day ... sorry.

IT USED TO BE A GREAT AFFAIR; ONLY ABOUT 5,000 PEOPLE SUPPORTING A SELECT FEW CHARITIES. NOW IT IS ABOUT 25,000 PEOPLE AND A TON OF CHARITIES. THE ORGANIZERS LET THE PREVIEW BLACK TIE NIGHT GET TO BIG. IT HAS LOST ITS FLAIR. HOWEVER, STILL NOT AS MANY PEOPLE AS GENERAL ADMISSION. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW.

Let's see ... 25k people (and I feel that number is way on the high side, but will ask someone there tonight) all adults and all dressed in formal attire having great access to all cars and Industry people there too, OR 100k people, many kids pushing and darting about, difficult or impossible to get to or in any of the unique cars and people constantly walking in front of your camera shot ... yeah, it may have lost it's "exclusive" luster, but compared to the alternative, it's worth the price of admission for what you get ... IMO.

Again ... another nice evening out at the LARGEST auto show to be seen. Food was great, attendance seemed to be up a bit from last year and more 20-somehtings there with young hotties on their arms. Two raffle cars won by single young males too ... maybe even 1st timers to the show, whatever.

Interesting too, went to look at mini vans ... torn between Chrysler T&C loaded but then saw Honda Odesssy -- no comparison ... sorry folks, but the Chrysler was cheap and sparse compared to the Honda that was just $1000.00 more and yet provided much more in the way of look, feel and features. Decission was to go Honda until ... as we were leaving ... walked through Hyundai ... they have an almost exact clone of the Honda ... to be released later this year ... and my guess, based on their pricing for other models, will be thousands less than either the Chrysler OR the Honda ... sorryt to say, and thought I never would, my next car may actually be Korean and heck, to those that might say that these cars 'sux', they at least back them with 2 more years of warranty than our fine US alternatives ... will kepp you posted.

This year didn't work out Ray.
We'll see about next year.

Any pictures you can share?
Any estimate on crowd size?

I don't do the digital thing and will have to wait til Walgreens develops the film and makes me a CD ... then, will try ... nothing really impressed be except the Challenger, looked great on the outside in person, inside, just like the original. Aside from that though ... eh.
