Next month, Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ will have a few incredible cars from Flint, MI on the auction block.

This 53 vette, built here, will be up for sale. It is considered the oldest Vette in existence since #1 and #2 are believed to have been destroyed years ago.

1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special Dream concept car.

And this restored GM Futurliner. There is another one of these in the Museum in Auburn, ID

They will also have 1953 Chrysler D'Elegance, 1964 Pontiac Banshee, and 1953 Ford Gardner Vega roadster.

Also a 1959 Vette nicknamed "Mr. Big," has a very rare factory installed racing option, will be up for auction. I don't know what that rare option is.

I remember when they came out with the Bonneville. 3 years later they made the first production Bonneville. Built 1 for each Pontiac dealer. 1957 model. We didn't take ours. Let another dealer have ours. I think they were about $5000 then. Hell of a high price for 1957. Wish I had it now tho.

I do too Randy. My blood gets a pumpin' over cars I didn't realize I liked.

On a side note,
I saw a sneak video clip today of a car that Mitsubishi plans to put in the North American Auto Show.

1 cool feature, retractable panels on the floor so you can see the roadway fly by beneath your feet.

The coolest feature, XBox 360 built into the trunk of the car, fold down video screen and the car controls (steering wheel, brake, accelerator etc) are actually the game controllers. They say if it is ever built, it would be in the $20,000 range.

Could you imagine seeing the Futurliner runnin down the highway? The one at the National Auto and Truck Museum in Auburn, IN. was restored to absolute factory specs and condition. The one going to BJ does have a newer powerplant but otherwise is all original.

Here are some more pics from Barrett Jackson site. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/about/pressreleases/bj06_futurliner.asp

Mike thanks for that link. The Futureliner defines nostalgia. The view from up there would be great! What a great Kat-Hauler that would make. The lines on that are off the charts. Wow

My Dad bought a new 57 Pontiac Star Chief and I thought that was the fastest car I had seen.It had the 4 stars on side.I would buy one today at the right price but not at the B-J auction price.

I drove a 57 Catalina for a demo in 57. It had the Star Chief engine. One of the fastest cars I ever drove. The old red bar that read the speed would go completely out off sight to the right. Never did know how fast that thing would run.

Thanks for posting the pictures and link. When auction is on I can't leave the TV. I even watch the reruns.
On the TV ads they claim they have been on SpeedTv or 10 years! I wonder how many if any of the same cars have ever gone thru again in different years. Wouldn't it be neat to see a replay of that?

There's a VERY nice clean 53 vette for sale locally at a classic car dealership. I don't remember for sure what he was asking for it but if memory serves me right, I wanna say around 58K. If anyone is interested I could check on that for them and verify asking price.
