Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose."
- Ronald Reagan

"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
- Ronald Reagan

"Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong."
- Ronald Reagan

"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress."
- Ronald Reagan

"The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination."
- Ronald Reagan

"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."
- Ronald Reagan

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

- Ronald Reagan

"It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first."
- Ronald Reagan

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Ronnie,,,as many young Americans do,, started off his adult years being a liberal, Demo-Hypocrat [aka,I voted for the war before I voted against it]. Later, Ronnie seen the light and changed to being a Republican, adopted the Goldwater/conservative philosophy, and proceeded to President by trouncing all Democratic competition.

A GREAT AMERICAN

"Great American" would be John Fitzgerald Kennedy who became prez after he trounced the conservative competition!!
Just another democrat from a long list that listened to the PEOPLE instead of big business. LET THE GAMES BEGIN

As a young man I had great respect for JFK and his entire family. As the years passed, I lost a lot of that respect and I have nothing but disdain for Teddy boy Kennedy. Their father Joseph was somewhat shady, to say the least.
I would really love to know the true story behind the assassination. There are several plausible theories and a couple of them could definitely be true. I guess we will never know.

The older I get the more I realize that politicians and diapers need to be changed often and for the same reason.

The more I've studied the Kennedy presidency the more diminished my once high impression of him has become. But what the hell, Marilyn thought he was pretty hot so I guess what I think is irrelevant!

The one thing Kennedy did that I also admire Reagan for was that he made people proud to be Americans again no matter what political party they belong to...they were unifiers and great communicators. FDR had it too.

Calling the Russians' bluff on the missiles in Cuba and getting them removed from Cuba took balls in my book... He made Kruschev blink first during those tense days. I recall it was touch and go, but he stood up for our national security which was under immanent threat. The Bay of Pigs on the other hand was a REALLY stupid idea.

Finally, I blame Viet Nam on Kennedy more than anyone else. It was his Jack *** SECDEF MacNamara (aka "Whiz Kid") who let that war drag on for years knowing full well we would not prevail. I think of the young people who lost their lives over there long after the clowns in Washington came to the conclusion we were pissing in the wind... JMO

Reagan the Puppet. For eight years they told him "Read this Ronnie" He thought he was in a movie playing the POTUS. It was THE biggest secret of his presidency (the fact he had alzhiemers) Then after his buddies got busted for Iran-Contra they told him to "Sign this Ronnie" and he pardoned them all. Since then thats all the repugs want PUPPET Presidents. Just look at the clown they got now.

Bob, Reagan's lead to ending the cold war with the Soviets can not be dismissed by the left no matter how much they would like to try.

Try this for trickle down economics; Raise the minimum wage to $25.00 an hour (an example for the need a living wage group), now go to McDonalds and see how much that Big Mac is going to cost you.
Oh and by the way if that burgerflipper gets $25 an hour how much should the skilled laborer be paid?

I'm not registered the Democratic or Republican parties. I consider myself a "flaming moderate..."

I'm not entirely sold on the theory of trickle down economics.

Maybe we ought to have a political "cease fire" until after the Holidays, OR Christmas season.

JFK, who cheated on his wife while in office, said this when he was running for President:

'We have the means in this country,,,that no person should live in poverty'

Thus came about the War on Poverty Plan,,,,,, and food stamps, aid to dependent kids, welfare benefits raised, rent subsidizing, on and on. War on Poverty = LOST,,,,$ trillions wasted! Why work,,,,,the government will provide for ya!

Then came the Clintons and their Free National Health Care Plan . YUP,,, you go to the doctor that the government selects for you,,,not your choice, or you would be penalized. Higher taxes to cover the cost to insure all.

I've seen their Plans. Never any vision of reality or human nature taken into consideration.

Now - the Plan by the leaders of a once great political party,,,is to Withdrawl, Retreat, Admit Defeat, and claim there is No Way to Win in Iraq.

Remember the opening scene in the movie PATTON:

Americans Love winning,,,,never accept Defeat,,,never Retreat!

OK Ed,,you are right. Patton and I will step off the stage for the holiday season.

Merry Christmas to ALL!!!

Despite his faults , Ronnie was my favorite...

When " The Duke " passed away ... the Gipper picked up the ball and ran with it...

his heart always seemed to be in the right place...

three thumps up for Ronnie...

No the Gipper shut down Simi Valley when he died...

For me it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Unbelieveable traffic and more cops/FBI than you have ever seen in your life... Truely a movie moment...
