Tomorrow should be our 1st major storm of this season. I have been working on my old Bronco so I can put the snow plow on and be ready to go play once we get some white stuff.

My Bronco is 21 years old and has LOTS OF RUST, but I have rebuilt the engine, transmission, front end, installed new tires, brake lines, gas tank and brakes. The worst thing is the back window was falling out from the tail gate being rusted so bad.

I do not drive it much any more and was planning on selling it. I even bought a VERY NICE `96 Bronco to put the blade on then decided it was too nice to do that to, so I have it for sale instead.

But when the snow flies around here it is unbelievable the number of junky old rusted trucks that come out from everywhere with snow blades. Where are they the rest of the year? On my way to work driving my rusty old truck I seen another rusty old chevy pickup with a snow blade on it.

Tomorrow night they will be everywhere. Some broke down, some making money and me out playing.

I started plowing at 11 with my 7HP sears tractor and still at it............we need another BLIZZARD

It was 3 degrees here this morning when I left for work. Right now it is 22 degrees. They are predicting 6-10 inches of snow tonight. Is it Spring yet?

So what's up with this Rust Belt Rusting cars all the time?? Geeezzz, I mean in Colorado a 30 year old truck usually has no rust...but in the mid-west they are usually terminal cancer patients. Is it the salt they put on the roads, the humidity, or what??

Different states use different chemicals - here in Minnesota, especially in the metro, they use magnesium chloride, which is very corrosive - probably the most corrosive thing that any state puts on the roads.

Magnesium Chloride

I make sure to wash my cars weekly in the winter...

well it is the salt. You would think people would learn how to drive in the winter but they don't. They want to get up 5 min. late and drive 20 mph over speed limit no matter what. So the all the highway departments start salting the road long before the 1st snow flake hits the ground.

They are now using a mixture of molasas and salt so it will stick to the road better.

I was driving on US 40 today (a 4 lane highway) and there was a cloud of white above all the vehicles on the road. This was the dust from the salt on the road. The dust gets into everywhere.

PLUS after owning 3 broncos I was looking at my 96 and figured out what the problem is with the tailgate. The weather seal on the rear glass seals to the glass but allows any water that gets on the back must go thru the inside of the tailgate. HOW STUPID and Ford did this from 1978 till 1996. They could have made it seal to the glass and over the top of the tailgate like the door window seal and the tailgates would not have had the water run thru it.

We got maybe 7" of snow tonight, The old bronco performed well except I have no defrosters. I guess I have to work on that.

Always amazes me how 5" of snow causes major pandemonium in a big city.....Takes me about 15 minutes to drive in to work in the morning.....and this morning was just over an hour and a half!
