Some of the Cincinnati Flying pigs. The first one that is covered with mirror chips sits in front of a beverage distributor. The flying pigs atop the smokestacks sit at the entrance to Sawyer Point on the Ohio River near where we will board the Belle of Louisville next year.

Ed, I was waiting for a comment about "Wawa" It does not stand for anything, it started out as a store you could but your milk/eggs, also had a deli that made fresh hogies right in front of you. Now they have moved into the gas wars, keeping all from above. Its now a one stop shop. Its an east cost thing I guess.Kinda like a 7-11 with a gas station, circle K, that kinda thing. I shy away from any place that sells sandwiches and live bait. Sandwiches and gas is okay although sometimes the food is pretty bad in those joints. I think we actually ate at a WAWA on the NJ lighthouse tour. They had decent food. I just had to go for the cheap shot otherwise A/C would be concerned about my health. lolThis message has been edited by ed monahan on 11-26-2005 at 09:21 PM

WaWa is a Canadian Goose as depicted in their logo. Seems the company has a long history.
Wawa has more than two hundred years of history in American business. Founded in 1803 and incorporated in 1865, Wawa has roots in the manufacture of cast-iron water pipes and decorative lampposts. Using the resources and surplus water power from the iron business, the family opened a cotton mill and began producing cotton piece goods, including Red Star diapers. The first Wawa milk plant opened in 1902; by the late 1950s, the Wawa Dairy had expanded its home delivery business to include over one hundred forty-five routes. The first Wawa Food Market opened on April 16, 1964. Today, the company is familiar to many as a chain of five hundred forty convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia that offers a wide selection of fresh foods, coffee, and gasoline.... Wow, talk about diversity. Thanks for the info Gary. I like reading that type of history. Most people in the rest of the country never heard of it and they are huge in your area. Wasn't that the place we stopped and parked around the back and stayed awhile?

Sasquatch, I sold the 99 with the original battery and now I have a pretender, just like the rest of you all. The hose was a full year ago. Sandy said I was very funny with the nurses for an hour or two after the procedure. I have absolutely no recollection of anything after they said, "you ready?"

I remember we stopped in Wildwood, NJ at a 50's Doo Wap style WAWA for fuel and maybe food. I think we also did stop later that day after the lighthouse with the food. I stop everytday for a coffee at the local WAWA here on the way to work. They are by far the cleanest of the convenience stores in this area. I didn't even know the history until I googled it. Very interesting.

MD is right on.WAWA is a regional "big box" convenience store chain that specializes in milk products. Most have several doors of their walk in coolers dedicated to milk, which reflects their dairy heritage. They are usually a low cost retailer of gas.
