Locally one of the stations plays 52 hours of the history of Rock N Roll. They seem to do it every holiday now. I keep hearing the same segments, unfortunately.

We listen every year! but somehow we screwed it up this year. We usually drive to Tucson to visit family and listen to it along the way. I realized yesterday we have well established our kids in this tradition The oldest (17) asked while we were in the car -- "Aren't we going to listen to Alice's Restaraunt?" Oops -- forgot to bring the right CD.

Jeff I can just see you sittin' there at work all alone at night singing that song! Gordon Lightfoot passed through here on tour last summer and I went to see him. Looked older (don't we all) but the voice was still great.

I'll throw this a 'cha Jim, (because you lived here back then), had it not been for Gordon Lightfoot, no one would remember/know anything about the Edmond Fitzgerald.

Ed, that is true isn't it. There is a musuem at White Fish Point in the U.P. that houses the bell from the Fitzgerald. The wreck has been dived a few times but none of those lost was ever found.True that Superior does not give up its dead. Water is too cold to allow decomposition creating the gases that float bodies to the surface. The Fitzgerald got its name from Edmund Fitzgerald who was the president or ceo of Northwestern Mutual, the owner of the ship. Lots of wrecks in the Great Lakes but the Fitzgerald is by far the most famous. This message has been edited by MIKE GATLIN on 11-26-2005 at 08:52 AM
